My Kenmore Elite Oasis wash machine has an Error Code of F54 and keeps beeping.....I tried to drain and spin and you hear the water drain then it starts to spin then it beeps and the code F54 comes on...Please help....thank you
The F54 fault code indicates that the control board senses high motor current.
This can be caused by excessive friction in the spin basket.
With the washer off, open the lid and see if the basket spins freely.
If not, you may need to remove the basket and check for an item stuck between the spin basket and the outer washer tub.
The second and third images show procedures for removing the basket on the Oasis washer depending on whether you have an impeller or agitator in your model.
If the basket spins okay, then you can follow the technical troubleshooting described in the first image.
This may help you determine the cause of your washer problem.

I recently found one of our 4 machines to have a broken lid latch, but I knew already that the bearings / seal were out so took it apart to investigate. Obviously water had seeped into the motor but I had no way to see what had really happened. After replacing latch, seals and bearings the machine ran for a day but then developed a groaning noise and error F54. Upon taking the motor apart I found 2 shorted coils which had overheated, probably because of the fact that the permanent magnet motor was acting as a generator for these two coils. The key sign was that on pinning the basket by hand I could feel the "Magnetic" resistance.
So I imagine that a staff member, on seeing error F54 which left the lid locked down and water and clothes in the machine had forced the lid, breaking the latch and thus creating a secondary problem that hid the original one.
So if the basket will turn but with some resistance it may be worth examining the motor coils for burning, that being the case I am not sure if repairs are viable or whether a new machine would be the cheapest way out.
