Black Rectangle Box appears shortly after turning on TV

A friend's child played with the remote control and ever since a black rectangle box appears mid-way on the screen. Otherwise, picture and sound is perfect.
I have noticed that at the top of the screen "TV-PG" appears which I don't think use to be there.
This trutech 13 inch TV is not used much as it just sits in our guest room and used once in awhile by guests staying in our home.

Any idea what the black rectangler black box is from and how to remove it?

I did click the menu in hopes of seeing something I could change in settings but didn't see anything that would remove it.

Please help - thanks!

That is the PIP (picture in picture) setting, on the TV's remote control. locate the button marked PIP and press the button, it should clear the little box.

Zenith SL2773W problem

The dark rectangle appears because you have the closed captions on and set to TEXT. Closed captions set to CC1 puts the words on the screen and TEXT puts a black box on the screen. Go into the menu, navigate to the page with closed captions and set your captions to OFF.

Black Box in the lower portion of the screen will not disappear

Check your Closed Captioning settings in the menu. I would bet money you have the "Text" feature enabled. Change it to OFF and you should be all set. I hope this was of some assistance.

Why did a rectangle box appear on the screen

PIP is on (Picture in Picture) either from your cable box or the TV. Check your remotes for "PIP". If you still have an issue, post a comment and I can help you more

Black rectangle on screen

The box you're seeing is the "closed caption' box. You need to use the remote and disable CC mode on it, and the box will go away :)

Unwanted black rectangle on the TV screen

I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.

EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Thanks! //D

Picture Problem

Turn off the closed caption with the original remote. If you do not have the origianal remote borrow one or buy one as you cannot remove the box or turn off the closed caption without it.
