My sigma 28-200 have problem with shutter problem my canon eos 450 cannot set more than f3.5 bcoz there are error01

  • syracusa Mar 07, 2009

Well, I have the same thing with my 40D and 450D, too.
I think it's a flat cable or similar problem, because the aperture always stay wide opened, no DOF check; any larger aperture value setting cause err01, also sometimes (1 from 5) when I change the focal lenght close to 200mm.
At 28 mm with open ap. usually works fine.

All auto-focus lens have some sort of 'chip' inside .. Sigma 'reversed engineered' Canon's chip - however every time Canon brings out a new camera there is a chance the Sigma lens chip won't work (this is why you see lots of Sigma lens on eBay :-) )

IF you can prove you purchased your lens direct from an authorised Sigma dealer, Sigma will update the chip for free .. otherwise they charge about £35 .. you pay postage in both cases ..

Visit the Sigma web site for further info.

I have error 01 on my Quantary 70-300 lens, I have tried to clean it, and different appitures as suggested, however I am still getting error01. Any other suggestions?

If the lens is compatible with your Canon, the only thing I can think of is a defective chip or a bad connection inside the lens.
just bring it back to the shop you bought it.

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of camera mounts. If you get the lens with a Canon mount then yes, it will fit any EOS Rebel camera body. A lens with a Pentax mount, for example, will not fit a Canon camera.

Sigma 70-300mm lens defaults to manual focus

It will default to manual through the viewing screen. It will only work on automatic, using the viewfinder. Make sure you also set the focal length (lens to shutter distance). You might also have a mf / af switch on the lens. This also only works through the viewfinder.

Manually setting shutter speed and aperture..

http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/eosdigital4/specifications.html

First off, welcome to the world of photography! Good luck and have fun!!!

Like any slr, you have the option of Manual exposure. I'm not familiar w/ modern Canons (I use Nikon). According to this page, however, you also have aperture priority and shutter priority. I'm pretty sure ALL modern Canons have bracketing modes as well (Use this for HDR).

I couldn't find the 450 manual (I'm assuming Canon's web devs are behind), but I did find the instruction manual for the 400 :

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900000357/EOSDRXTi400DIM-EN.pdf

Should be similar, probably w/o some of the functions. Although you SHOULD have a book w/ your camera ;). Read it thoroughly.

Ok, according to the 400 manual, put your camera into Manual mode, then adjust the regular dial to adjust shutter speed. Then, to adjust aperture, hold in the A/V button while you adjust the same dial.

Like I said, may be a bit different. I think the dial may even be digital buttons rather than analog...

hope this helps!!!
