I own a Panasonic PV-GS31 Mini DV Digital Camcorder, I am a Private Investigator and while recording the sound needs to be muted, how can I accomplish this?

Hi There, There is no external mic input on that model camera. The only way to do it is you will have to take the front panel off the unit and disconnect the flat mic/audio cable from the front panel. If you do this, tape up the connector so it won't short out the unit. If you had external mic in, you could put a dummy plug in and that would cut the sound from the internal microphone.

You can find a charger at Wal-Mart for about $45 that includes a car charger. I just got mine there after searching Best Buy and Circuit City to no avail! Just make sure to check the back of the case for compatibility with the battery and/or camcorder.

PV-GS31 often disconnects from vista

I called Panasonic directly today & asked about the Vista driver for the GS31. No such driver exists, but they are trying to develop a driver specifically for Vista users of this camcorder. Finally the mystery is correctly answered & solved for us Vista owners! woooohooo !

look for a tiny pinhole and insert a pin while powered up to reset the device...or try another memory card...could be corrupted memory
