131 students in my school. 80 of the students passed. What is the percentage? How do I set it up?

Divide the number that passed (80) by the total student population (131). This will yield the percent that passed (,6106), Multiply by 100 (shift the decimal point two places to the right) and the result is 61.06%. Rounding to the nearest number equals 61%.

(x/y)*100 (80/131)*100=61.06 % ~ 61%

Hope this makes sense.

What is formula to find percentage of females in my workplace?

To get around this, you can calculate your numbers as percentages first. For example, if you type the formula =10/100 in cell A2, Excel will display the result as 0.1. If you then format that decimal as a percentage, the number will be displayed as 10%, as you 'd expect.Aug 2, 2011

How do you figure out the percentage of a budget

The percentage is simply 100 x (things you are interested in / total).
So for example the percentage of foodstuffs which go, with the other things to make up the household expenditure (budget) is
100 x (amount spent on food) / (total household spend), or
100 x (food budget) / (total household budget)

How do I find what the percentage is . . . the amount is 4,117,484 out of a total amount of 163,715,657. I usually divide the amount by the total but when I use a calculator to check (by multiplication)...

100*4117484/163715657 gives me about 2.5%. Since you didn't specify the calculator your're using, I can't give you the exact keystroke sequence, but on a typical algebraic calculator it would be something like 1 0 0 * 4 1 1 7 4 8 4 / 1 6 3 7 1 5 6 5 7 =

On an RPN or RPL calculator, it would be
1 0 0 ENTER 4 1 1 7 4 8 4 * 1 6 3 7 1 5 6 5 7 /

The total snowfall in Buffalo, NY one year was inches. If the total snowfall the following year was inches, what was the percent change? Show and explain your solution.

I don't see any numbers in your question, so let's assume the number of inches in the first year is x and the number of inches in the second year is y. The percentage change is the difference between the number of inches in the second year and the number of inches in the first year, divided by the total number of inches in the first year. This number (which is a fraction) needs to be expressed as a percentage. Algebraically:
y-x is the difference between year 2 and year 1 (can be positive or negative)
x is the total number of inches in year 1
so:
(y-x)/x is the change fraction
(y-x)/x * 100 is the change percentage.

For example, if x = 50 and y = 40 then:
(40-50)/50 * 100 = (-10)/50 * 100 = (-.2) * 100 = -20% = a 20% reduction in snowfall in yr 2 over yr 1.

Student marksheet prepare wtih Ms Excel With following conditions

Check all the Marks with IF Function if Mark is less than 35 give the total mark else give the rank
for Ex:;
if(Or(m1<35,m2<3,m3<35,.....),TotalMark,Grade)) [enter]
here m1,m2,m3 ...are the cells denoting Marks, Totalmark is the cell Showing total marks and Grade is the grade applied for the condition. here also you can use one more if function to find the grade among A,B,C,D,E
First this function check whether any of the given marks are less than 35. if any of the marks is less than 35 it will get the answer TRUE for the OR Function and you will get the Totalmark Cell VAlue, else it will go to Grade Clause.

Percentages in Excel

No problem, Melinda, I am here to help!

If I understood correctly, your spreadsheet looks something like this:
A B C D
1 Question Yes No Total
2 Is sky blue? 20 2 22
3 Is world round? etc.

In this case, the formula for % of Yes would be: =B2/D2. This would give you a decimal point result such as 0.909091. Now if you want to make this look like a percentage in your spreadsheet, just do the following:
1) click on the cell where you have the division formula
2) clck on Format in the top menu bar
3) click on Cells
4) click on the Number tab (if you're not already there)
5) click on Percentage in the list of categories
6) click OK

To boil it all down to a simple principle, percentages are created in Excel by dividing the two numbers using a formula with "/" in it, and then formatting the result to look like a percentage instead of a decimal.

I might have misunderstood your question, and I have an idea of what else you might have been asking (and another slightly more complicated solution for it!), so please let me know if my first answer didn't hit the mark!

Good Luck!
Regards,
RichMTech
