Troubleshoot your trusty Maytag Washer that has some of the ...washer diagnostic - Fills with water then cycle stops - LAT8014AAE .... there is a water connector that the water lines from the house connect to the washer. you will need to take the panel off. you should see a blue plastic box where the hoses connect. you will need to replace this piece. it should have wires on it and that tells the washer when to open the valve for water to come through and when to stop.
Does the water stop filling if machine is unplugged? If yes, bad water valve inside washer.
If water stops when unplugged, may be a faulty pressure switch or airdome hose came loose from switch - located in control panel - water level switch.
If water keeps filling and never overflows onto floor - likely that water is siphoning out drain hose. Raise drain hose higher or allow an air break at the drain hose exit.
If when you press pause while filling and it keeps filling then you have a faulty valve. If the filling stops then valve is ok. If you filling keeps going until overfilling the machine which is what i understand is your problem, then most likely that you have a small pinhole in your pressure tube.
i would recommend checking the water level switch or lid switch and also the cable leading to it. that is what sends a signal to the machine control to stop filling with water.
cut power to washer ..does it stop filling? suspect water level control or small hose to it is off ..keeps running in? shut off water to washer and change fill valve where hoses attach..just won't fill to top and start? raise level of drain hose up and be sure it is not too tight in drain pipe to prevent siphoning
Sounds like a bad mixing valve. To verify that it is the valve you need to turn off the washer when it is filling. If water keeps running, replace the valve, Cost is under $50. for most washers.
