Maytag dryer model no. LDE 7334ACE. After successfully drying one load, the drum stopped rotating for the second load. The heating element is working, but the drum doesn't tumble.

Sounds like the belt that turns the drum has slipped off or broken. Not sure if I would consider this a DIY project, but if this is the problem, a professional fix should not cost much.

Maybe the fan is broken. Or clogged with lint.

SOURCE: Maytag dryer

Dear sloika,
I do not believe the problem lies within the dryer unit.
when the dryer unit fails to dry clothes in reasonable time 90% of the time it is the clogged air vent is the reason.
Dryer vent cleaning improves the safety and efficiency of your dryer installation. As dryer vents become filled with lint and other debris, drying time increases and can cause the dryer itself to overheat. This increases energy consumption since the dryer has to run longer to dry your clothes and can also cause fires in the dryer or the dryer duct. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports dryer related home fires are on the increase.

  • First check your vent hose between the back of dryer and the air outlet on the wall. Vaccum clean the dirty hose and even into the dryer unit using flexable vaccum attachment. also try to vaccum clean airoutlet that goes into your wall as far reach into and much as possible. The dryer's lint filter and its path needs to be cleaned as well.
  • If all air flow path are cleaned it will improve 200% of your drying time.
There is also professional dryer vent cleaners in your area who can help solve the problem. just check your yellowpages..

Good luck!

I was drying rugs and one of the rugs got caught and the drum stopped turning. The power comes on but the dryer drum will not turn.

Hello, one possible cause of dryer drum not rotating is the rugs stuck between the drum and front panel.Secondly, maybe the dryer belt dispart.

Maytag electric dryer drum starts and stops turning but keeps going

Hello,
I would think you are on the right track, possibly a belt, I would also check all the rollers or idlers while you are replacing the belt.
Enjoy and best wishes

Dryer Maytag LDE 9316 ACE -what is the capacity of that model dryer? Thank you!

bg_title_capflex.gif
Capacity is a key consideration when shopping for a dryer. The more you are able to dry in a single load, the less time and money you will spend doing your laundry. Most importantly, look for a dryer with approximately twice the cubic foot capacity of your washer.

Typical dryer capacity ranges from approximately 3.4 cubic feet (for a compact model) to over 7 cubic feet for an extra large capacitor

In addition to saving time by drying on fewer loads, and money on lower energy costs, a large capacity dryer often means spending less time once the laundry is dry. There is typically less wrinkling when clothes have more room to move around inside the drum.

Whirlpool brand offers dryers with a range of capacity and flexibility.

Dryer not turning off when clothes are dry (model LDE 400ACL)

Normally if you have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry, it will do it with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a "pre-set" temperature.
When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. If there is a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough. The timer advances until the interior cools, then the termostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again. This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But... if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix this problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork and make sure the vent is not compressed or kinked. If that doesn't work, then your thermostat, moisture sensor or timer could be the culprit.

Dryer makes rumbling noise intermittently

It sounds like a faulty roller under the drum. Need to pop the top of the dryer, then remove the front -- you'll probably easily spot the faulty part.
