Good day!!!
That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..
Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..
1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Most likely, the problem is a defective Main Processor Board. This is the board with the antenna, RCA and HDMI plugs. You cant repair or replace component parts on this board, so dont even try. You must replace the complete board. The TV says Sylvania, but it is a bloody Funia TV. Several years ago this foreign company bought out broke-azzz Sylvania . They are still carrying the Sylvania name since Sylvania was a popular TV name in the 70s. Every electronic company in the USA is now owned by the Chinese, so call Funai and order the part from them. Dont be surprise if they dont have a clue what the heck you asking for. America and all electronics have gone to the puddles. Do you know why? GREED.

Hi.
If the red light stays on and TV does not start up, then the TV is in protect mode because an incorrect voltage has been detected.
If the TV instead comes on with the remote, but there is no picture, problem is usually the inverter or in some case the input.
If the TV comes on in stand by ONLY if you use the main switch on TV, then comes with no picture of sound using the remote, that means that the main board is not operating. This may happen because of a defective main board (A board), because of a defective PSU not powering the main board correctly, because of a short in a different board (often the inverter, the tuner or one of input boards).
Other part that may fail is the TCon board, which function is controlling the timing of the LCD panel. This board is difficult to test, but when it fails you usually get vertical lines, false colors or other video defects shortly before the TV shutting down.
If the problem happens only occasionally, check also the wall socket. Bad wall socket grounding will cause malfunction.Ensure that earth and grounding is OK. Test the TV with no devices connected, and using an extension and a different socket.
Most of the times the problem is a defective PSU or a defective main board. Parts must be tested by a technician to find the fault.

The amber light signals that the power source is in protected mode - the source is practically closed down by force and no longer delivers not even the stand-by voltage to minimally power the processor (hence the remote issue). This happens when one of the other boards in the tv is completely shorted.
Just 2 boards are capable of triggering that when they fail: the power source itself (one of its output transformers or rectifiers have failed) or the inverter/ballast boards (2 of them) - the ones that power the tubes that light up the screen.
To find out which you must disconnect the inverter boards and see if the tv starts up - if the tv starts and you can hear sound (and probably see an image if you light up the screen with a flash light) then the inverter board is faulty and you will have to replace it. If it doesn't then the power board is damaged and the inverter might have caused that - further testing on the components on both boards is needed to determine what caused it. A good experience in repairing electronics is required for that or you will replace boards blindly and hoping for the best

If theres absolutely no power and no lights on, it sounds like the fuse inside the t.v.. It is pretty easy to change. You have to take out the screws on the back of the t.v. and take the back cover off. Look for a 3/4" glass tube fuse and see if the tiny wire in it is broken. Pop it out and bring it to radio shack and get a new one. Put that one in and try it, Make sure the t.v. has been unplugged for at least 2 hours before opening it so the capacitors have time to drain. They will hold power and could shock you if your not careful. Also, dont use anything metal to take the fuse out.
