What is the most likely problem? Problem with the bore? Can over sized piston kits and gasket sets be bought easily?

THE ENGINE MAY HAVE BEEN TILTED OVER AT SOME STAGE AND YOU MAY HAVE CRANKCASE OIL IN THE CYLINDER.
REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG , PLACE THE PLUG BACK IN THE SPARK CAP AND EARTH THE PLUG AWAY FROM THE CYLINDER.
CRANK THAT MOTOR UNTIL ALL ENGINE OIL IS OUT OF THE CYLINDER ( SOME CARB CLEANER AND COMPRESSED AIR WILL HELP REMOVE THE LAST RESIDUE.

CLEAN UP THE SPARK PLUG , PUT IT BACK IN AND KICK HER IN THE GUTS (YOUR ENGINE THAT IS) ....HOPE THIS WORKS.

LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GET ON.....CHEERS....TABBY.

85 Honda 250R Bore Size Question?

Bore / stroke 66 x 72mm

72 mm stroke, so the difference in bore diameter is 1.5 mm. 72 x 1.5 = 108 cubic Millimetres. Divide by 10 to make it cubic centimetres and the answer is 10.8. Your new engine will be 256.8 cc.

Edging when heard a loud pop like a spring or cable broke while running at high rpm's, engine shut down.....now starter cord pulls freely. what's wrong?

Hi William:
This is fun because it's already broken so you can't easily make it worse.
I'd start by making a clear spot on the workbench and then start taking it apart. Label the parts, keep them organized, and maybe even take a few pictures as you progress.
Think of it as fun. Every bit you remove has a purpose, so try to check the functions as you go. When something doesn't do what you think it should, you've probably found the problem.

How do I check to see if my fan clutch is good or bad

Start the engine and run it till is warmed completely. Shut the engine off and see if the fan spins freely by hand. It should be stiff when engine is warm. Really free is bad when warm. Only spins free when cold so engine will warm up without the fan stiff.

I need a tool for turning inner orings on my micro-lathe. The oring size is a buna 012 to give an idea of the size. The lathe I am using is made by Taig and has a tool holder.

You may use a high speed boring tool that is resharpened for the width of the o-ring. And back relieve up the boring bar so as not to hit your part bore 3_15_2014_8_58_02_pm.png

Seems chain is loose. every 3 pedel in skips and recatches sprocket. could be trying to change gears but doesn't look like it is, think its just loose. huffy nightstalker 12 speed

Sometimes chains have stiff spots that cause them to skip. You can try checking the chain for stiff spots or just spray some lube on it and see if it loosens up. If you turn the bike upside down or put it such that you can let the back wheel spin freely, you can slowly turn the pedal and see if you can see the spot on the chain where it slips. If you find it, you can spray lube on the spot and work it back and forth until it's loose. Good luck and hope this works!

VERY difficult to pull starter rope

Check that engine spins freely with sparkplug removed
Suspect build up of gum in bore causing high compression.
Cause probably use of "watercooled" 2 stroke oil (intended for outboard ). Not getting hot enough to burn off gum.
