RCA f27242gy I bought my 18" Sony T.V. at an estate sale. I can't get it to change to any channels besides back and forth between 1 and 31?? Can anyone lend me some advise? I sure would like to watch some T.V.
If you have a remote control you should be able to access the "atuoprogram" feature within the setup menus. This will look for all active channels and place them into memory. What model is it?

Channel 3 is what you want anyways if you use the co-axial for the input. You can't have any other channels until you do a scan and there are no other channels anyways when you are using the tv as a monitor. So all your problems exist before that. Since the tuner is analogue and the satellite receiver is digital you may need a modern brown box.

My experience with the RCA F27242GY 27" TV going on and off is as follows:
Where the coaxial cable connects at rear and the base of the TV chassis part # 15062-57A is loose.
First did you try all the codes. Some codes do not activate that function to work with the TV. Second what type of TV is it . If it is a combination tv - vcr - dvd these are the hardest to get to work with a universal remote . good luck
It looks like you will need to autoprogram the rest of the channels but do this you will need to have the TV connected to cable to store more than channel 3.

If television has rca outs in the back(yellow, red, and white connectors) you must use the remote on the television to change the video input mode. If you do not have the RCA's you need to go to Radio Shack or Wal Mart and by an RF Modulator. and follow the instuctions with the modulator.
first off how good are you with a solder iron ?
beside the obvious rf connector problem these set's had
problems with bad solder connections within the tuner itself.
