Dryer heats & tumbles but not drying

The dryer is working/heating as normal but now there is condensation on the inside of door, there isnt much lint gathering like usual and what does gather seems damp, and the clothes arent drying. We've checked the vent hose but cant see any problems.

I seem to end up inside my DQW150 about once every three months with dryer problems.

With the symptoms you're describing, and working from easiest to fiddliest, I'd start with checking for a blockage in the drain pump and the hose down to it from the bottom of the tub (drying seems much more sensitive to pump trouble than draining and spinning on this machine).

Then I'd run it with the back off and see if I could see condensing water trickling down the inside of the condenser (translucent duct fitted on the back of the tub). If you can't, it's usually because the solenoid on the cold water valve has burnt out again (this also usually results in the clothes getting much hotter than usual).

EVERYTHING FROM THIS POINT IN NEEDS THE MACHINE DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY

Next, I'd unscrew the top of the breather tube from the top right hand corner of the case (as you look at it from the back), ease it down so the end rests in a bowl on the floor, and give the corrugated hose that attaches it to the bottom of the condenser a good squeeze to see what comes out. If this breather or its hose get blocked with a slug of wet lint, the dryer becomes amazingly inefficient. If at all suspicious, unclip the hose from the bottom of the condenser and rinse the breather (tube and hose together) through under a warm tap until all the rubbish is gone.

Finally, if none of those things bring any joy, I'd wash the lint out the condenser. This is a slightly fiddly job - the best way I've found is to take off both top and rear panels, then remove the condenser and blower from the machine together out through the top of the machine. Once they are out, they can be split and the condenser can be flushed by running warm water through it. Make sure you've got a good socket set before you begin - Candy don't believe in standardisation, so you will want every size of socket there is from 5.5mm up to 10mm before you're finished. Before putting it back together, have a look at the inside of the blower and check for any evidence of the impeller having become distorted, or of it fouling on its housing. On reassembly, be careful the rubber seal between the blower and the heater duct fits correctly on all four sides (it's easy to get one flange tucked inside the duct), and mind your knuckles as you're replacing the lower of the two blower fixing bolts and the screw which secures the condenser near the top of the tub.

Between them, those things usually cover it.

For a non-condensing dryer, the story is different and there are fewer things to go wrong.

If things are heating and tumbling as normal, the problem reaqlly has to be one of airflow.

    The cycle is simple:

Air goes into a hole which might have got blocked.

It goes through a blower, which might have got blocked, or the impellor might be sticking on the casing, or the impeller might have become loose on the motor spindle (or have fallen off it completely), or the blower motor may not be working (either because it has burnt out, or bacause a wire has fallen off)

After that, it goes through a heater - although this can very occasionally get blocked on condensing dryers, you wouldn't really expect it to happen on one of these machines. Initial advice is probably not to fiddle with this bit

Next it goes through the drum and clothes and from there through the filter, through a duct and into the outlet hose. Check the filter housing and exhaust duct for blockage.

Finally, it exhausts through the hose. Make sure this isn't blocked (either in the middle, or at the end, and that it isn't kinked.

Provided you check everything thoroughly, you ought to get to the bottom of your problem.

I agree with everything that has said. The only other place to check is the outlet in the wall, this too can become blocked. I've known people buy a new tumble dryer and find new new one has exactly the same fault as the old one! Remove the protective grill, outside the house, and look inside for blockages.

It'll be either the steam condensor (normally a long plastic tank inside the rear of the machine) that is blocked with lint/fluff or it could be the water valve that takes in water on the dry cycle (pipe from this water valve will normally go from steam condensor - dependant on model) that has stopped taking water. Fan housing and heater box on top of the machine could also be blocked. Hope this helps and remember to remove the appliance from the power supply BEFORE working on it.

Candy heat pump tumble dryer not collecting water and taking forever to dry!

Condenser dryers are simple in operation. They use a heater element to force hot air to heat the clothes and turn the water to steam. That steam is turned back into water by drawing cold air into the machine and over the heat exchanger unit and into the drum. The problems with them is that they are slow to dry.

Your best bet is to call for service, and the problem is likely the sensor probe or one of the thermal cut out.

Bosch condensation dryer when on heated dry clothes come out steaming hot not dry

Sounds like something's blocking the hot damp air being removed from the drier. If you are confident enough, go through the drier vent system looking for a blockage. If not get a good DIY neighbour or appliance engineer. Silly question, is the drum turning?

The heating element is working on high heat and clothes are tumbling but after several cycles the clothes aren't dry. The lint trap has been cleaned out. Suggestions?

the ducting is clogged or at least partially clogged (most likely at an elbow).
Also check the vent itself where it exits the home for bird nests etc.
Lowes sells a nice kit for cleaning vents in the plumbing department. I have
used it and it works well. Please note that the dryer may also be clogged
inside just below the lint filter inside the door or if it has a top mounted
lint filter it would be the blower stack located in the back of the machine
Remember to shut off breakers before performing any service to the machine.

Dryer is not heating up to dry the clothes

Hi there,
Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes.

Maytag dryer model # SDE3606AWY HEATS UP TUMBLE clothes but does

There is most likely a lint obstruction somewhere in the exhaust. Start by checking the outside vent as often there is an animal screen on it that over time gets caked with stray lint. If that's clear then work backward and check the hose, etc until you either find something or get to the dryer itself. It's possible that in the internal exhaust tubes there's an obstruction as well so if you don't find anything in the external tube you will need to disassemble and have a look inside those internal exuast tubes/ports. If it's inside then do it soon as there's clearly a risk of fire if there's a wad of lint somewhere inside where it shouldn't be.

The mother of a friend at work had this issue - her clothes took HOURS to dry. Her animal screen had several inches thick layer of lint. Once that was removed the dryer dried like new.

Dryer seems to heat up but clothes not drying

Check to ensure that its rotating. Then check the outlet hose for restrictions. If there are not any restrictions in the hose, and if the dryer connects to a wall pipe check the wall pipe for an accumulation of lint. Heavy lint will saturate and allow reverse drafting of condensation once the core air temperature drops. There have been instances where the blower is not attached to the operator shaft of the motor. Your air is circulated by the blower pulling air from the barrel into and over normally two heating elements. If there are restriction in the air flow here a fire hazard could exist. Hope that helps. After checking provide more details.

Dryer Rack

On mine, nothing "clamps down". There are 3 positions in the plastic rack into which you can insert the wire rest - "F", "H", and "A". God knows what they mean (I think the one rack is intended to be used in various dryers, of different depths), but if I use the rearmost position = "A", the back end of the wire rest rests on the non-moving rear of the drum, and the front of the rack rests on the lint screen holder. Seems to work, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired.
