DVD recording or playing.

I am unable to format a new disc or even play any prerecorded dvd. I receive error code "Incorrect Disc C104". I was able to record the last time I used it. I have moved the unit just prior to this time to use it. Now I get that message no matter what disc I put in.

I have a Sansui VRDVD4005 VHS/DVD combo unit that I am using to copy home movies from VHS to DVD-R disc. I have only used it about 1 dozen times and it worked fine. It has not been used for last 6-8 months and now will not initialize/format the DVD-R disc.

Per the manual, I use the remote control to access (here is the entire path)". " Set Up button >>> System Set Up >>> Disc Set Up >>> Reformat As DVD Video - Proceed".

The problem is the last step. I cannot move the cursor up to the "Reformat As DVD Video - Proceed" selection. It is stuck on "Video" which is the middle selection and will not move up or down.

This is also the screen to be selected at the end of the dubbing to "Finalize" the disc. I expect if I can't "Reformat As DVD Video - Proceed" at the beginning, I won't be able to finalize at the end.

I tried unplugging the unit for 30 minutes, and also put new batteries in the remote.

    Does anyone have a solution?

Does anyone know of a contact website or customer service email for Sansui ?

Same C104 problem as the people above.

Sometimes it won't complete the disc formatting. Other times it won't playback a pre-recorded DVD. It says the disc was formatted incorrectly - these are new, out of the package, right from the store DVD's.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

I have a Sansui model VRDVD4005. When I put a DVD

I think you need to take it to the service center, because there's nothing that you can do all by your self. The problems starts from the optical lens/ laser pick up, replacing the lens could be necessary.

Cannot format a dvd-rw disc or record to the disc.

Unless you posted this question in the wrong category, you can't use the Sansui VRDVD4000 to record to DVD. It is a DVD player only, not a DVD burner. It will play and record VHS tapes, but with DVDs it will only play them.

To record to a DVD, you would need a DVD burner. Many modern computers include a DVD burner, so maybe either your computer or someone you know's computer has a DVD burner.

Solutions to incorrect disk error c105 & c104

Hello gjbrokke,

First make sure the disc is compatible with the dvd player (CD-R+ , or CD-R - )

Second make sure the region code of the dvd you burned is compatible with the dvd region settings on your dvd player.

One of those two are preventing the disc from playing in your sansui player.

Samsung DVD recorder will play but not record blank discs

Had mine into the repair shop. Junk it, processor is toast. Not worth the money to fix. The guy said he wouldn't even touch it.

Won't play DVDs or CDs at all. Reads error code C-104.

To solve this Code 10 error, follow these instructions: NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.
1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • SYSTEM
  • CurrentControlSet
  • Control
  • Class
  • {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4)This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry.Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
  • UpperFilters
  • LowerFilters
  • UpperFilters.bak
  • LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the
Registry Editor

7) Reboot your computer

8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives havereturned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that theyellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Selective playing of DVD's on Sharp DVD Recorder

Given that the machine will read disks it has written itself but not play regular discs, I suspect the lens assembly is slightly out of alignment and needs adjusting. This is not normally something you can do at home unless you have the correct test gear. It will need to go to a repair shop. One thing you can try before that is to clean the lens. Buy a quality (Scotch 3M, Philips ) cleaning disc and try it. Could be it's only a speck of dust on the lens.....
