Polaris 380 wheels not turning

Pump sprang a leak that was caused by the drain plug shooting out. Earlier acid washed DE filter. Lost a lot of water. My repair person came and re installed the drain plug. Polaris was working fine after repair per repair person. Next day polaris is not working and wheels do not turn. There is no filter assembly for me to check on the polaris tubing. Just have two swivel connections near the wall of the pool. There is a low noise from the pump, like water inside the motor, that goes on and off repeatedly. I have a polaris 380 pool cleaner. The noise existed prior to water leak.

SOURCE: My polaris 380 wheels won't turn. the belt is

If the wheels don't turn there may be sand in the notches on the wheels, the notches may be worn off, if their is sand or dirt in the paddel wheel jet that will keep the unit from turning and again no wheel movement. All of these problems they can check in your local pool store. Stores will generely check your unit out and fix what is needed for just the price of parts to fix it when you bring it into the store.
If you have no water flow to the unit this will also stop things from working so be sure to check your finger screen before you do anything.

SOURCE: Hello, Volut cracked overnight and leaked

With a new volute the most likely causes for low pump flow is a restricted return line, a restricted suction line(or air leak), or there is something wrong with the impeller in that order. There is a filter screen in the return line that can cause the return line to be restricted if it is plugged. It is either in the wall fitting or in the tubing system close to the wall fitting. If it is dirty it means that debris is getting into the system. Typically an early indication that a grid in a DE filter has a leak in it is a plugged cleaner filter screen. The speed of the motor could be causing the problem but this is rare without causing an over current condition in the motor causing it to shut off. My suggestion is first check the return filter screen. If it is dirty then clean it out. Before connecting the return hose start the pump and check the flow by reaching down and manually putting your hand over the water stream coming out of the wall fitting. Turn off the pump and connect the cleaner hose without the filter screen installed. Disconnect the hose from the cleaner and hold the end of the hose while someone turns on the pump. Water should come out of the hose at a high rate. Next install the filter screen and the flow coming out of the hose should be about the same. Now try connecting it to the cleaner. I hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Thanks, good advice. Turns out the screen was pretty dirty and had a small hole in it, which allowed two of the four jets to be clogged as well."

attempt to start the engine in neutral using a battery charcer/starter on the starter connectors only if the engine turns over replace the battery cables if not; you have a seized engine

Polaris 380 wheels not turning

If your Pol wheel sometimes stops turning and you could force it half a turn to make it go again. Chances are that you have the same problem as mine: HAIR GETS AROUND THE AXIL OF THE DRIVE WHEEL.
This can be fixed by first removing the wheel cap with a flat head screwdriver, then remove the retaining clip that holds the wheel in place. (Be careful not to lose the clip!). Remove the wheel and remove the hair around the axil. Put things back in reverse order. You are set.

Polaris won't move and seems to be nose down. The tail is moving but thats it. also when i bring the tail out of the water, it doesn;t have much water pressure shooting out.

Check the pool cleaners filter screen in the in-line filter and clean, if necessary.Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter. If one of these is full or clogged, it could be weighing part of the cleaner down. Check all of the hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of
water pressure. Finally, make sure that your wheel RPM is set correctly (between 28-30 RPM)

The wheels are not moving when hooked up, When i move one manually they all move. i made sure the pool filter basket is clean and the water pressure going into polaris seems like it is strong.

Also check the skimmer basket and pump. Make sure they are functioning properly. Check all hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks that could be causing a lack of water pressure in these pool cleaners. Make sure that your wheel RPM is between 28 and 32. Increase the pressure to create more RPM.

My Polaris 380 just stop moving the pump was run and had good pressure turn one wheel they all turn freely also tail dose not move

Check several things if these pool cleaners stop moving. Check the filter screen in the in-line filter and clean, if necessary. Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter. Check all of the hoses,
connections, and swivels for leaks that could cause loss of water pressure. Make sure that your wheel RPM is between 28 and 32. Adjust your thrust if necessary to get RPM to that level.

Wheels turn at 8 rpmsand don't turn at all sometimes until you move them

If your RPMs are less than 28 in these automatic pool cleaners, you have a problem. Try troubleshooting by doing the following checks. Check the filter screen in the in line filter for debris that would restrict water flow. Clean teh skimmer, filter, and pump baskets. Check the hoses, connections, and swivels for leaks. Remove the blue restrictor disk from the UWF. If you ahve an adjustable valve on your booster pump, try setting in completely open.

My pool cleaner doesnt move when switched on

First, check the filter screen and in line filter to be sure that they are not clogged. If they are, cleaning them will probably remedy the problem. Next, make sure the skimmer basket, pump basket, and pool filter are not blocked/clogged. With these automatic pool cleaners, that is most often the problem, surprisingly enough. Check all of your hoses, connections, and swivel for leaks that could cause a lack of water pressure. Finally, make sure that your wheel RPM is functioning properly and is at the recommended number of rpms.
