Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Digital Camera

Open Question

I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 that I can't get the flash to go off on. The only flash setting that works on my camera is no flash setting and the icon for the no flash symbol appears white. The rest of the settings such as automatic flash with red-eye, and automatic flash, ect... are red. Is this a settings issues or a repair issue? If it is a repair issue could you tell me what on the camera needs to be repaired. Weather it be the LED light is broken or a resistor or transistor on the circuit board that needs to be changed. I believe I can fix the problem myself if I knew where to begin. I can't find any blogs or questions about this problems fix on the web. Can you help me

SOURCE: Flash problems fix Panasonic DMC-TZ1

There is a Force Flash setting on this camera I believe. Force Flash means Always Flash(on). If this does not work, then flash is burned out I would guess.

The TZ1 has been replaced by the smaller, newer and nicer wide angle TZ3 and latest TZ5. Consider selling you defect TZ1 to a repair person on ebay, and buy you a good used, refurb, or new TZ3 or 5. Prices are very good, and your is worth about $25 to $30 with all accessories that came with it.

What type and size memory cards? The DMC-TZ1 works with SD cards 2GB and smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

How to turn the flash off DMC-TZ1 camera?

On the menu set button at the bottom right at the back of the camera, if you press the right hand side of this you can change the way the flash operates from auto, auto/red-eye reduction, forced on... and the final one would be forced off. You can download the manual from http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Support/Downloads/220239/index.html#anker_222458 enter DMC-TZ1 into the enter model box and then download the operating instructions and on page 40 it will show you how to do it.

What is the highest capacity memory card that I can use in my Panasonic DMC-TZ1?

Assuming you're using SD cards, they top out at 2GB. Cards larger than 2GB are SDHC and they will not work in the DMC-TZ1. So, you may use SD cards up to 2GB in size.

Flash doesn't work right

first step would be to reset the camera in the setup menu - reset settings and setup parameters - turn camera off for about 15 seconds then back on and take a snapshot in simple mode (heart icon) on the mode dial. If the picture turns out problematic it could be a flash or image sensor issue - if it comes out fine then it was an issue before with the settings - possibly the ISO sensitivity.
