Question about Fisher Paykel EcoSmart GWL15

Fisher and Paykel washer spinning problem

When the washer enters a spinning mode,it gets to a certain speed and starts to make a clunking noise and shuts off. At first I though it was off balance but I dont think that it the problem. If I spin the basket by hand, it gets to a certain speed then it feels like something grabs it and stops it from spinning.

I had time to look into it further. There was fabric wrapped around one of the wires that suspends the basket. It was not allowing the spring to move therefore the basket was making the noise against the wire and thowing it off balance.

The clutch? Take out center of washer (only small bolt/screw ) , take out agitator, and lube up the hardware , check for broken parts, or overly worn out metal pieces. Run a normal cycle.
If still persists, take off front panel to washer for an engine inspection.

Press "end of cycle" for 5 seconds or more to clear the screen. Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

Rate me pl.....if helped.

SOURCE: Fisher and Paykel Washer Leaking

For those with water on floor after wash, check my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something clogging drainage area at very bottom of the tub. I couldn't see the sock that was stuck in my FP's drain when I looked from the top between the white outer tub and the wash tub--everything looked fine. Then I removed the black motor/white plastic housing piece--Tip back washer and you should see this black electric motor/white housing on bottom. see my post for how to remove and check for plugged drain. it's really pretty easy.

don't know about outer tub holes, but glad i don't have that problem.

i hate my fisher paykel washer/dryer. i can't wait to sell this house--i will leave them here and get a new front load Duette for my next house!

SOURCE: washing machine makes buzzing noise

Check the water pump for an obstruction in the chamber area, your pump may be sticking and that will cause the buzzing sound. The water pump runs during the fill portion of the cycle on several of the selected wash cycles to recirculate the water.

Whirlpool wtw5100sq0 clunks when put on spin cycle

Does the washer currently work fine aside from the loud clunking noise? Does the clunking noise continue or is it just one loud clunk when it starts to spin? If its just one loud clunk then that is not a problem just ignore it as that is the clutch spring releasing, it probably starting making noise from the grease getting washed off when the washer over filled.
However how did the washer overfill? That issue should be addressed too. Sometimes though, if the tub is not centered from a heavy load the water will spill over the back but its not really an overfill.

Washer started to smoke during spin cycle then a cracking noise began after that.

You may just have a defective drive belt. The motor itself will smoke under certain failing circumstances. Can you give me a model # ?

LG WM3987HW Washer Spining very wild

I've just uploaded a service manual.

relevant info pasted below: --

Regulate a specific spin speed that generates excessive vibration and noise as follows:
1) Put an unbalance part (rubber) inside of the drum.
(this is a special weight that service people use. It clips into the drum. If you don't have it, throw in about 4 to 6lbs of damp laundry.)

2) Start the QC test mode (Refer to section 7-2).
7-2 says turn the washer off, then press 'spin speed' and 'soil level' at the exact same time. Then, while holding both buttons, press power to start "QC test mode"

3) Press Delay Wash button, then ' tst ' is displayed on lcd
4) Press the Spin Speed button repeatedly to select Extra High.
5) Press the Quick Cycle button, the spin speed is displayed.
6) Press the Start/Pause button.
7) Press the Beeper button repeatedly to set spin speed (600, 800, 1000, 1200 rpm) and check if there is vibration
and noise.
8) If there is no vibration and noise, increase the spin speed by pressing Beeper button.
9) If there is vibration and noise, rotate the Cycle selector knob clockwise to reduce the Spin Speed (reduce by 50
and 100 rpm). In case of 600 rpm, it can not reduce the spin speed.
10) If vibration and noise are reduced, press the Quick Cycle button to store (2 beep sounds).
* If you want to return to factory default spin speed setting, repeat above steps except step 9)

Clunking/thumping with spin cycle, reduces as spin speed increase

It's hard to tell without looking at the washer. But my first response would be that the transmission is wearing out. Inside the plastic cover for the adgitator is a metal drive stem. This assembly has a pulley on the bottom where your motor attaches to; inside the bottom of your washer. It is quite common after many years that these go bad. Have you ever noticed unexplained grease or other stains on your clothes after they came out of the wash?

Whirlpool washer functions, but rubbing noise during spins

The pump will make a sort of cyclic "creaking" noise just before it goes bad. You might want to remove the back panel and inspect the drive belt, make certain there are no knicks, loose pieces of rubber or it is slipping.
Let me know.

Washer won't spin at high speed....makes loud clunking noises

You probably have a broken shock on your washer. The front loaders have two shocks on them to stabilize the drum when it spins. Over loading the machine will cause these to break. Luckily they aren't too much to replace, only around 30 dollars each. They are quite a pain though to change out. When you remove the back panel of the washer you will see the shocks. Most likely you have one broke, maybe both though. Don't use it though until you get them changed out. It will just do more damage to the washer. If you have any other questions let me know and let me know if this was helpful to you. Good luck and I am glad that I could help you.
