I'm having the same problem. blue hp logo then goes dark. I hear the windows start sound. but still black screen. If i let it sit overnight it comes up fine. when i shut it off and start it again nothing. I updated the vid driver when it was up but no change.. Gave the customer a loaner. I'm sure heat has something to do with it. but i'm opening it up in the morning.

You best bet is to pull the hard drive and attach it to another computer. This will allow you to copy the infomation you are worried about to another sorce. Most computer retailers that offer services will have a back up service and can do this for you. The average cost in my area for a back is $100.

Once you have the computer repaired, make sure you back things up. If you are worried about loosing something back it up twice. External hard drives are reasonably priced, and most computer have some kind of optical burner.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Hp TouchSmart 310 wont start, power light flashes

The LED light has now turned into a diagnostic light. The fault is a bad Power Supply.
Replacing it however, is easier said than done.

I don't know what exact model of the Touchsmart 310 series you have.
(Examples such as TouchSmart 310-1000Z, or 310-1125f, or 310-1155y, etc.)

The TouchSmart 310 series of All-In-One desktop computers, has a battery, and an AC adapter, (Charger), for power.

Test the battery with a multimeter set to DC Voltage.
{Symbol is a dotted line over a solid line. If there is more than one DC Voltage setting, set it to 0 - 50 Volts }

Should be close to 18.5 Volts (DC)

Battery is low?
Check the AC adapter (Charger)

The middle metal cylinder of the plug that goes into the computer, is Positive.
The outside metal shell which surrounds it, is Negative.
Again, 18.5 Volts (DC)

Check both then post back in a Comment.

If you have tried another monitor and result is the same, then it's a faulty graphics card.
If graphics card is sharing system memory, then you might need to replace ram to get it work again.

HP TouchSmart 310-1125f display is black

Hearing fans and hard drive spin up doesn't necessarily mean system is working - just without video. If you heard a POST beep or the Windows Startup sound that would be different - and good. Is there any video on the screen at all, even just a blinking cursor in upper left of display? If not, your problem is probably hardware such as ram or motherboard. If this system has a VGA or HDMI output to connect to another monitor or TV would be a good check, but AIO system usually don't have that option. Other than that, and this is a shot in the dark: Ensure the system is off, disconnect the power plug, and hold the power button in for 30 sec for a power reset. Then plug in system and try powering it up again. If no go, you may have a hardware problem and will need a PC Tech. Hopefully it is just loose ram.

HP Touchsmart 310 PC all in one. The screen breifly displays the blue hp logo screen then acts like it is going to laod, then goes to a blank/black screen. It wont load, what is wrong and how can I fix...

You might have some viruses and malware.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

Download, Install and Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756
When Installing choose the non-pro version.

Download, Unzip, Install and Run TDSSKiller:
http://majorgeeks.com/Kaspersky_TDSSKiller_d6895.html

Download, Install and Run Super Anti-Spyware:
http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html

If you have an outdated Anti-virus program then Download, Install and Run Avira Anti-Virus:
http://majorgeeks.com/Avira_AntiVir_Personal_-_FREE_Antivirus_d955.html
Make sure to select ALL of the "threat categories" when you install or configure Avira...

You should be in pretty good shape if you run and install all of these programs.

TouchSmart 310 won't boot up .

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue then select restart if the problem still persists f8 back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option if it is a hardware issue the system restore might not work

hope this helps you
