This is a summer resort, so after putting it together in the spring, no water except a little dribble. I put it in heated storage over the winter

The red pressure relief button on my GE Smartwater whole house water filter system is leaking what do i do to stop this

I had the same problem. The valve is not seating properly. I first took a plastic bag and placed it over the unit so it didn't spray all over, then, pushed the button several times to try to flush it. I then shut the water supply off (or move lever to bypass) and removed the cannister that holds the filter. I activated the red button several times until it looked like it seated well. Keep as much water in the cannister(sump) as you can and still have the filter seated properly. Screw it back on, and open the water supply slowly to fill the rest of the way. Don't push the red button again, but instead open a faucet in your house for around 5 minutes to let air circulate out. If the red button still leaks, you may have to try a few times. If it leaks just a little it may stop after a day or so. Once you get the red button to stop leaking, don't push it again! Just always use the open faucet method to work the air out. There will still be some air bubbles for awhile, but will work out within a day

GE Smart Water under sink dual water filters replaced. Very little water pressure. I have reinstalled them, no improvement. I have been replacing these filters for 5 years and have not encounerted this...

Hi jbboggeri,

Welcome to fixya!

I would go ahead and open the new set and install them. If you get pressure, you know the others were bad and can send them back for a refund.
If there is no change, you can always put them away and use them again later.

Please reply back and let me know how it went. Thanks,

How do you fix hot water shuts off during shower with Model N-069M-OD installed December 2006?

Try flowing more hot water with your shower. During the summer you end up mixing alot of cold water and very little hot water (because your cold ground water isn't so cold in the summer). When you get close the minimum flow rate of the appliance, it will start to short cycle (fire on and off). Here's some recommended things you can do:

1) Clean the shower head - remove scale deposits and or clogging
2) Widden flow restrictor - most shower heads have a flow restrictor on the back of the showerhead; It consists of a rubber washer with a hole in the center. You can widen the hole using a drill bit.
3) remove the flow restrictor - this should be a last resort

Damper-bottom of hot water heater broke when changed themocouple

U cannot put it back together it is a fail safe if the unit over heats from a plugged inlet the spring loaded damper is released by one of two way solder retainer melts or vial melts either way the the unit is bad contact Rheem with the 1800 number on the tank and depending on the age they will replace the tank. You will have to uninstall it take it back then install the new tank all not covered by them or if you can't do this a local plumber or hvac company can do it for u

GE Smart Water Heater Model# GE50M6A. Hot water does not last long a possible element issue? where do I find the elements and is there a manual available online?

Hi,
Your bottom element is burned out. You will still get hot water from the top one, but like you said, not nearly as much.
Do a search for "appliance parts" and then enter your model number and you will be able to purchase the aprt online. Check a number of different sites as the prices can vary greatly. Many of these sites will have exploded views, so that you can see how they come apart and go back together. Wire the new element in exactly as you remove the old one. The bottom one will only have two wires so it is very easy.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

I was changing my filter in the ge filtration system, and it says to turn off the water and press the red button. Then it says to unscrew the filter take the old one out and clean the filtrstion system...

before putting cover on, chk the button to make sure it isn't staying depressed and see what the button is doing when depressed. The cover may have to be in a certain position. with the cover in place, gently rotate untill button pops up
