The Kiichenaid mixer has a centrifugal speed governor. I suspect your is stuck. It will need to be disassembled, and inspected.

SOURCE: KitchenAid K5SS mixer speeds up beyond set speed.

I have the same mixer and I believe your problem is the governor that is on the back of the motor. You can figure it out by downloading the repair manual here:http://store.mendingshed.com/kitaidparts.html The manual has all the info you need; including a troubleshooting section. The governor is availible from the the same site here:http://store.mendingshed.com/kagovernor.html What tipped me off on my K5SS was looking at the governor as it ran and I could see it moving back and forth; not steady like it should. Good luck!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid K5A mixer 10 speed only runs on fast, no slow speed

Pull the back off and there will be two screws at the top of the Speed Control Plate and a 3rd screw at the bottom. Tighten the top two screws down. [email protected]. Let me know if it works.

SOURCE: Have a kitchenaid artesian mixer need to adjust

Hi KELLYSERMAN, this should be pretty easy to do by yourself the instructions for adjusting your beater to bowl clearance is in your Owners Manual. I you don’t have the original manual you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number, in your case KSM150 and select the file listed for your model that appears under Owners Manuals (66): KSM150PSER1 (732.33KB) and save that file to your PC. Turn to Page 14 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.
a4417ef.jpg
• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

I hope this helps! – Howard, Burke, VA

SOURCE: Is there an exploded assembly diagram I can reference

Hi LONGLEY632. It sounds like you’re in the need of your mixer’s parts list. It provides ‘reasonable’ exploded views of the various components of your mixer. Enough so that you can disassemble, identify parts and reassemble your mixer.
You can download a PDF version from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> then enter the visitor type “Consumer” and the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM90P, in the Model Number box. Select one the files listed for your model that appears under Parts List (16): KSM90PSWH0.pdf (354.08 KB) and save that file to your PC. Check to verify this matches your mixer model.
Good luck! I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

SOURCE: My 325 watt, 5 quart artisan stand mixer won't

By not working to mean that the planetary gear wont move? or does it just make a weird noise when it is on a low setting? If the gear is completely stripped the unit shouldn't run on any speed regardless if there is mixture in the bowl or not. Since I can't see the mixer I would say that there might be a slight tear in the gear which would only allow the mixer to get stuck on a slow speed where as on a high speed it is running fast enough to skip that particular tooth. I understand that the mixer is brand new but when it comes to mixers you can strip a gear right out of the box depending on the consistency of the batter you are mixing. If the machine is under a year old it is under warranty and you are allowed free service by an authorized repair center in your area.

The pasta/meat grinder attachment stops turning

Its a 325 watt mixer. If you grind or mix dough often you may consider getting something stronger or turn it off every ten minutes or so and let it cool down. We burned a 325 and got the 575 watt "600" series and no problems ever since. I know these things are expensive. The 325 is more mixer than grinder. The attachements fit ANY size mixer but some are not recommended for use in all mixers.
If its quiting see my posts on "doesn't run at sitr" and "Removing the motor cover" To get inside and clean those contacts.

KitchenAid 325 Heavy Duty Stand Mixer runs with low power & clicking noise

well there is a couple of things to try
1. see if kitchenaid sells the motor or
2. if a local appliance parts store can get the motor
this is the only thing you can do about the motor , the wires in the motor are shot and it will need reconstructing in the wireing, that is why it won't run fast and strong , because the wires have been heated up to much and now they can't create a strong enough magnetic field
but to replace the motor shouldn't be to hard just a little patience
if you need any more help just let me know!

Kitchenaid 250 watts k4ss mixer

The repair manual says that the mixer can make this grinding sound at slow speed, like stir or 2. This is normal, especially until it warms up. This is the sound of the gears turning at slow speed.
