I want to be able to play audio CDs on this DVD player, using the speakers of my plasma TV. However, this DVD player (when playing a CD audio) puts an unchanging blue image on my Panasonic plasma (which must be powered on to use the speakers) which will burn in if I let it sit there too long. So playing a audio CD on my Panasonic DVD player will ruin my Panasonic plasma TV! Is there a way to play audio CDs without damaging my TV?
Depending on your tv there is a function to turn screen off. most tvs come with this feature. on the remote there will be an power key with a red or black button. this is to turn the screen off. if it does not have this function and there is no screen saver setting on the dvd play there is not much you can do for this situation .

Melisha, I had a similiar problem. Go into the onscreen menu with the remote using the "ACTION" button on the bottom left of the remote. Using the arrow keys in the center of the remote, move to the menu for the audio processing. It will have menu items for DTS, Dolby Digital etc. Change the menu parameters for the "Down conversion" to "yes", get out of the menu mode and see if your DVD works again. If not, make sure there is no DVD or CD in the player, and press the "open/close", "pause" and the double left pointing arrow buttons all at the same time for about 5 seconds until the display on the DVD player says "INITIALIZE". This resets your machine. I hope this helps you.

Take it back and for an exchange.

I had the same problem. It turned out to be my cable that went from the dvd player to the TV. I replaced with new cable & everything worked fine again. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

I read about removing the cover and spinning the motor by hand. It was suggested without power. I found that I had to have the unit powered up when I hand-spun the motor, then everything worked perfectly... we'll see for how long.
