Coleman 6875, Does it have an auto idle???

Hi,
If you've got an auto idle function you'll also have a switch somewhere to shut it off, so look for that first.
Engine surging is almost always a problem somewhere in either the air cleaner or the carb. Check the air cleaner, if it's not dirty take the bowl off the carb and look for dirt in the bottom.

TWIST PLUG

go to an electric supply store and let them know it is a 20 amp plug. The big box stores only have a few selections of plugs
I had the same generator and had to modify the plug to make it fit correctly

I have a 5000w colman generator w/ 2 standerd 120v outlets, 1twist 120/240v outlet. the grounding prong goes out all i can find are cords that go in ???

Go to an Electric supply store and tell them it is a 20 amp plug. They should be able to get the correct plug.
I had this generator and had to adjust the prong to make it work.

Wont turn over

Check the oil level, these generators have an oil monitoring system that prevents the engine running if the oil isn't all the way up to the bottom of the threads in the oil fill hole.

COLEMAN POWERMATE 6875 11 HP GENERATOR

Hello, If your generator has sat for a long time, the residual magnetism in the field coil may have dissipated completely this will cause the generator to produce no electricity. If this is the case there is a fix that is so simple it will amaze you by how easy it is to get it running properly again. The process is called flashing the field and it is done with an electric corded drill. Here is a link on how to do it. http://www.perr.com/tip16.html I hope this helps. If my solution works for you would you kindly give me a positive rating. Thank you, Michael Burke
