Oven will not shut off

The oven get's real hot when we plug it in. The oven light is not on. It will not shut off. It is almost like it is in cleaning mode but we did not set it to do so. Any ideas wht may be causing this. The burners work ok. I can't remember what error number it did show. It was either F1 or F2.

the model # is 790.95415102 it is a Kenmore with a glass top

We were using the oven at 170 degrees drying jerky and the oven started to feel like it was getting hotter than 170 so I hit the button to shut it off and the bake light turned off and I left the kitchen, 10 minutes later the alarm on the oven and my smoke detector starting going off and smoke filled my house, I opened the oven door and flames shot out of the oven, we extinguished the flames and closed the door...a friend came and told me I hadn't shut the oven off, but I knew I had, F1 was flashing on the digital read out but the bake light was off but the element was red hot, we had to hit the breaker to shut the oven off. If we would have left the house we would have lost our home.

Same model, ours did the exact same thing this Christmas morning: Oven was on warm to keep breakfast warm while cooking up for the masses. I noticed that the element did not turn off and pulled out the food. Just glad we were still cooking on the range top. Once all was done on the range top, we turned off the breaker. Any solution?

My Kenmore Model Number 79095202100 oven is on and will not shut off gets super hot flashes F!

  • Anonymous Aug 23, 2008

Yes I also have the same problem - Apparently kenmore did not build any safety mechanism into the stove to deal with this problem. The most likely casue is the control PWB. One of relays are sticking. They could be either solid state or mechanical relays. I have an electonics background but won't open the stove until I exhaust my dealings with sears and kenmore.

GE Electric Range, Model JBP65G, oven will not shut off. No error codes, (aside from PF-Power Failure, after plugging back in). GE troubleshooting has *0* help on this, though it is apparently a recurring issue. Stovetop elements work fine.

I have a Kenmore gas built in oven, model number 790.30179400. It's 5 years old. I just used the oven and it wouldn't turn off. It seemed to behotter than the temperature I had it on. I have a fuse box in my house so I pulled the fuse out for the kitchen appliances to get it to turn off. When I put the fuse back in the oven keeps beeping with an F11 code flashing on the screen. I've had something in the panel replaced once before because it did this before when I used the self cleaning part. Could it be the same part again?

Amana Self-cleaning Oven flashes F2 and F3 and beeps. It doesn't get real hot. Although it does heat up not the appropriate temperature.

Hi, F2 error code on the Amana Oven means "Oven too hot" You have to replace Oven temperature sensor to fix it.
F3 error code means "Open or shorted oven temperature sensor". Yo also have to replace Oven temperature sensor to fix it.

Summarily, both code has to do with the temperature sensor which you need to replace...

I just cleaned by hand by magic chef wall oven and now I can't

Pilotless ignition means that a hot surface ignitor lights the oven burner. It does take a little bit of time to light the burner. Maybe 30 seconds. If you want to make sure it lights take the bottom panel out from the oven and observe the hot surface glow and the burners light. No real danger as the gas valve will only open after the hot surface ignitor has satisfied the gas valve. Let me know how it goes. ken

Amana EvenAir Convection Plus Self Cleaning Oven will not unlock.

My oven was locked and would not open. No lock light was on but the oven was clearly locked. F9 error when I hit certain buttons.

Try this. I unplugged the oven for about 5 minutes. Plugged back in. A LOCK light came on. Held down "Oven Cancel" for a few seconds. Door opened and lock light went off. No more F9 error when I hit those buttons.

Whirlpool RBS305PDQ11. After self-clean, oven won't heat up.

This seems to be a common problem with these ovens. The oven got too hot and the tco (Thermo cut off)tripped. This will have to be replaced. It is located behind the control board.
