Your problem is most likely one of three things: the zoom rocker (or wires connecting it to the main control) have gone bad, the zoom motor has failed, or you have bad capacitors in the camera which are causing the controls to not operate as they should. In any case, the camera will probably need servicing to restore it to complete function.

Aw, Based of you have said. May be your cassette housing is deformed or dented, if this happen switches fail to do their job due mechanical deformity. I am afraid may be some other mechanical parts is affected that needs special skill to repair. If you have background in repairing, yes you change cassette housing by yourself, just be careful not to damage flexible wires. Good Luck

ag-456 vf is black and white only.

the sound you refer to during recording on the ag-456up is probably bad bearings on the video head. unfortunately, this part is no longer available. any good electronic repair shop should be able to clean the lens. a new battery should be available from wal-mart, circuit city, best buy, etc.

the panasonic 9000 video camera is good

the ag-456 only outputs composite video. if your pc has a video card with a composite imput, you may be able to use the ag-456.

Hey I think it would difficult to find a manual for a AG-455, though being very similar to the AG-456 (which seems to be more popular) would you be happy with the manual for that model? I downloaded the AG-456 manual from somewhere last year but unfortunately can't remember from where. I do have the PDF file if you're interested though..
