Some printers have a slot in the exit tray to use for envelopes and cards, if yours does not it may not support printing of cards. Please provide the model number and/or check the HP website for information.

The paper settings in the print driver must match what is loaded in the product. NOTE: These changes do not change the default print settings. The print settings return to default the next time the program opens.
  1. Open the document that you were trying to print when the issue occurred.
  2. Click File , and then click Print . The Print dialog box opens.
  3. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box. Depending on the software program, the button might be Properties , Options , Printer Setup , Printer , or Preferences .
  4. Click the tab that provides paper type and size settings. The tab might be Features or Paper/Quality .
  5. From the Size is drop-down menu, select the paper size that matches the paper in the tray.
  6. From the Type is drop-down menu, select the paper type that matches the paper in the tray.
  7. Click OK , and then click OK again to print the document.

I'm trying to print some photos on 4 x 6 paper. i selected notecard paper size, but the printer keeps printing the 4 x 6 photo on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

Are you telling the printer to use the smaller paper?
If it has 2 sizes it will keep using the last size used unless you tell it to change.

Check if the correct paper size is selected according to the letter size that you are trying to print, select custom size and give the specifications of the paper manually.
Open Solution center software on your PC, click settings>Printer settings, in the feature tab you have an option named Paper type, select plain paper and then click ok and close window and Solution center and try to print.

Word Settings for Printing Postcards

I found the fix!! Once you have your size settings typed into your page layout screen and applied to the document, click print. Once you select your printer, click on properties (or printer preferences) click on the features tab (the tab next to printing shortcuts) and go to the resizing options section. click on paper size bar and scroll down to custom. once in the screen, give the shortcut a name you'll recognize, type in your dimensions in the provided spaces click save. once you go back to the features screen, scroll back down to custom and select your shortcut that you just created and apply it to both the paper type and paper size. click ok and go back and click ok to print! Hope this makes sense..if not, go to HP's website and type in your product name, type paper mismatch in the keyword search bar and click ont the first link in the found section. It will give you the same step by step instructions....
