This means the machine has no program.
Try taking the batteries out, turn key to REG mode, turn power off for 5 minutes, then back on. Put batteries in.

Hold FEED down - keep your finger on it.
Turn power on at wall.
Wait 5 seconds, then let go of FEED.
Press SUBTOTAL.
After power on. You are ready to get going.
