No water drains out of drain plug on Lg washing machine

Water comes out of the pump filter when turned, but not the pipe. The machine is starting to smell as if water is trapped. No error message is showing

  • Anonymous Jul 04, 2012

it is the emergency drain tube which is blocked.  The machine is working/draining fine but smells so we were wondering if it is stagnant water in the blocked emergency drain tube?

Hi there, this could be one of two problems 1, you have a block in the waste pipe or pump? or 2, your drain pump has packed in and may need replacing?
however if memory serves me right there is an emergency drain tube on LG machines, it should be located behind the bottom pannel on the front of the machine and from there you should be able to release the water from the machine. hope this helps!

SOURCE: Drain pump removal on Zanussi FJR1254 Washing Machine

not easy.suggest you disconnect pump and power up independently as an easy way to check if it runs
easiest way to remove pump - and its awkward - is to undo the 3 screws holding the pump to its housing

SOURCE: Water doesn't drain

you could have a bad drain pump.
have you checked the hoses that come from the bottom of the tub to the drain pump for anything that might be stuck in there, also check the hose that comes off the drain pump to the wall and look for an obstruction.

SOURCE: water coming out of drawer & door

Hi Gary,It sounds to me that you have a blockage within the pressure systemas this is a classic sign. If you take the top off the machine you will see a round switch with a few wires going to it.This is the pressure switch. at the bottom of this switch is a thin pipe, normally black or clear. there is a small spring clip holding this pipe to the switch, If you remove this pipe and gently blow down it you will probably find it is blocked. You will then need to follow this pipe to the bottom of your machine. At the bottom of the machine where this pipe is fitted you will see there is a chamber and it is this chamber likly to be blocked. Some times you may clear this with a small piece of wire by removing the small pipe and poke wire through, but best way is to see how this chamber is removed and remove it for cleaning.Ensure machine is off at mains. this chamber fills with water and causes air pressure within the switch at the top of machine, which in turn tells programe when machine is full and also when empty. If this fails then machine will not turn off water supply as long as it is on. there fore when you reconnect parts ensure they are tight and clips back in place. Good luck and hope this works. Failing this working you may need to call an engineer to check switch and possible fault on board.

SOURCE: wf310 hotpoint aquarius washing machine wont spin or drain

Power off the mains. The filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at the bottom. Four screws hold it on. Drain out all the water. The filter is inside the big black rubber hose attached between the pump and the main drum. Remove the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal cir clip holding it to the main drum. Inside is a white molded cone and a big white ball which floats. You will find a lot of junk here, clean out thoroughly. To refit put white cone back inside just as you found it, at the bottom, fit ball back into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re-fasten the cir clip. Finally reconnect the gator to the pump unit and tighten the plastic clip. Check out the pump too before reconnecting.

I have LG Washing Machine and the water does not drain whilst the machine is washing. What can be wrong?

problem is with main board MOSFET ,FET or Transistor , that are not switching your drain pump at right time , if your'e pump is fine, , you should check drain pump separately by giving it separate supply. ( see its data sheet for power )

Siemens washing machine keeps washing

Hi Linda Bailey,

If it keeps washing it could be that it is unable to progress to the Drain or Spin cycle. The likely culprit could be the Drain Pump Filter. To clean the Drain pump filter:

1) Plug the appliance out.
2) Open the small compartment below the door (Either Right or left hand corner) You will see a small pipe and a circular lid with a handle.
3) Drain the water by using the small pipe (Get a bowl for the water!), take of the cap of the hose or use the tap on the pipe on some models.
4) Once all the water is drained, open up the cap (Again.. Keep the bowl close by for spillage) by turning it anti-clockwise. Once off, clean the filter which is found on the cap.
5) stick your fingers into the now open compartment, be sure to clean out any obstructions, and feel if the impeller inside can turn freely.

THATS it! Now re-insert the cap, and close the pipe if open. Plug your machine in and viola!

It should solve your problem.

If not, let me know.

Kind Regards

Washer does not spin. Tried to start cycle over

Hi,

If you are getting this code it is because your washing machine has tried for at least ten minutes to drain the water out of the machine. The most likely cause of this problem is that you have a plugged pump filter or you have something stuck in the pump filter.Make sure that you unplug your washing machine. To clean out the pump filter you must empty the washing machine water. The best way to do this is to manually drain the water into a low bucket or basin. Then lay a towel down to catch to remaining small amount of water. Remove the pump filter, clean out any debris, and wash out the filter. Then plug your washer back in and restart the washing machine.Check that your machine is properly leveled. A washer that is too far out of level may not drain properly. Make sure that you are level front to back as well as side to side. This solution will solve your problem

Thank You !!

It wont drain the water away after a wash we

sounds like your pump may be gone, or could be pipe blocked. to check pipe fill machine take outlet pipe at rear of machine and lay this into a bowl. If water flows ok then all pipes are clear. As water is coming through just put machine onto spin cycle and raise hose to see if water will then pump out.

Blocked drain

Is there still water in the machine or have you bailed it out? Some units have a serviceable water pump, meaning you can take the bottom of the pump off and clear gunk that has plugged it up. When you manually turn the dial to spin cycle, does it spin and push any water out even a tiny amount at a time? If not, take a large bucket and then place it on the floor next to the machine and place the drain hose in it. The bucket needs to be lower than the water level in the machine. When you do this, does it drain? If so this would solve the issue of whether or not the pipes are plugged. If in both cases either on spin or with the hose lower than water level, if it only drains a tiny stream then you do have a plugged line and you would need to disconnect the hoses from the pump under the machine and clear the plug. Be prepared for a lot of water to come out when you take the hose off of the pump. The plug is most likely in the hose coming out the bottom of the tank going to the water pump. This item has the hose leaving the machine going to the house drain. The other large hose goes up to the bottom of the tank. Good luck and let me know if you need more help.

Running water

Sounds like your stand-pipe has fell over, located behind machine that the drain hose goes into. This pipe must be vertical, and secure. The top of the washers drain hose loop that goes into the stand-pipe, should be as high as your soap dispenser. If this is not the problem then your water pump must be pumping the water out all the time. Can you hear the pump? If so, some faults can force the washing machine into a constant cycle of filling with cold water and pumping the water away if it thinks the washing machine is overheating (possible faulty thermistor).Hopefully its only your stand-pipe causing the loss of water.Lets know how you get on.Good luck.

Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.
