click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts

if you need more help with post a reply

hope it helps

if you see a yellow exclamation or questin mark a new driver will need to be updated right click select update driver Rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-fre... Windows XP/Vista/7/8 it might take some time being a freeware driver solution Note: it will find all of your outdated drivers This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point. Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

You could easily pick up an aftermarket USB PCI card, which will give you 2-4 USB ports that have their own logic chip. These are quite easy to install and very inexpensive.
Another option would be a front-mounted USB hub, which would attach to the USB header on your mainboard. They come in 3.5" size (to go in a floppy drive slot) or 5.25" for CD/DVD size slots.
Either of these should work fine as long as the rest of the PC is OK. If not, they are pretty much universal, so you could put in your next computer. (if it didn't work).
Good luck!

My computer will not recognize my 4GB PMP350-4 POLARIOD mp3 player i want to use it

Dear tenmil,

Welcome to Fixya,

Many of the USB devices, and Mass storage devices are not detected by a system when you connect them to USB extension slots such as front USB slot,USB hub etc. So you have to connect your Polaroid mp3 player to a backside onboard USB slots. It will definitely detect your device if your device is working normally. I think it helps.

Keyboard help

Putting the keycap back on is usually fairly easy. Many will snap back into place if you place the keycap back into the correct position and gently press it down. Look on the back side of the loose keycap and see if it has 4 small clips or if it has 2 clips and 2 slots. The one wit 4 clips should snap back on. The one with 2 slots requires you to get one side of the key hinge into the slots before pressing it down onto the other 2 clips.

If only some of the keys stopped working, that usually indicates a defective keyboard. Try connecting an external USB keyboard to see if all the characters work correctly. If the external keyboard works but the laptop keyboard does not, then you will probably need to replace the laptop keyboard.

Cruzer 2gig won't see usb 2.0

1)maybe not all of the slots are USB2.0 try the furthest slot from the one you put it in or in front of your computer.

2) you should NEVER format a flash drive. It will not work after a format. You now need a new disk.
