Indesit W 123 Front Load Washer Logo
Dan Osborn Posted on Feb 23, 2007

Indesit W123s I hope someone can help. Our washing machine has started making a grinding sound when it starts to spin, sounds a bit like a drill!? During the normal wash part of the cycle it doesn't make this noise. When I stop the program the drum doesn't spin freely like it used to when you push it manually arround. Any help/suggestion would be gratefully received. many thanks in advance.

There is a bearing at the back of the machine that normally goes.don't just replace the bearing.buy a complete bearing kit and replace that.

LG Tromm WM2277HW during high speed spin makes noise

I had exactly the same symptom...grinding noise only during high speed spin cycle.

I took the top and back panels off to see how the drain hoses etc. connected. Not wanting to take it apart further, I eventually just took the washing machine outside (I knew I was going to be dealing with water!), pulled the debris catcher front side bottom, and let rip with a garden hose inside the drum with the catcher out (leaving an open drain that could flow unimpeded).

Water flowed quickly out of the open drain, and lo and behold, a small drill bit came out with the water flow. This bit, presumably had gotten through the drum grating, and was resting on the bottom of the housing, scraping and grinding when the drum was spinning.

Hi! I have an Indesit W84TX washing machine. Lately, it has stopped working every time it reaches the rinse cycle. It seems to rinse and drain just one time before the process stops and the settings dial...

Actually, while the settings dial spins, there is also a kind of grinding/clicking sound from down where the drain port is. I checked it and there is no filter there when I open it.

Washing machine wont spin

Your machine may not be receiving adequate voltage to start. Make sure your machine is plugged in. Also, check the circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are in the correct positions. Or check to make sure no fuses in the fuse panel are blown. Try plugging something else into the same outlet. If it won't work either, then there is likely something wrong with the power outlet. Any of these could be the reason power is not getting to your machine. Also, refrain from using an extension cord to plug your machine in.

sounds to me like your carbon brushes have worn down if they wear down too far they will hit the metal casing that explains the grinding noise

Indesit W123s - Hates Us

first thing to do is to make sure the washing machine is not siphoning. sometimes if a washing machine is bringing in water its all so draining it ,known in the trade as siphoning. the drain hose must be higher than the tub?? Unplug your washing machine from the wall socket for a minute or two and plug it back in to reset its micro. to me it sounds like a main board fault. I think you might find that it still maybe under warranty. ring a Indesit service agent and get some advice.
