How do you remove the base mount from a viewsonic 2021m LCD?
Gently lay the nonitor, face down, on a table such that it will not be damaged while you remove the base. You will find a curved strip of plastic about 1 1/4 inch wide and 4 inches long. Near the center of this strip, you will find two parallel plastic ridges. These are clips that hold the base to the monitor support post. Squeeze these clips together to remove the base from the support post. I was able to squeeze the rear strip toward the rear of the base and ease the rear of the base off that clip and it came apart ok. It is a bit tricky, but doable. Good luck.

(Please disregard my first attempt at posting this solution. It is a bit muddled and hopefully, this submission will clear it up a bit. I would appreciate it if someone would delete my first attempt.)
Gently lay the monitor, face down, on a table such that it will not be damaged while you remove the base. Looking at the bottom of the base, you will find a curved strip of plastic, about 1 1/4 inch wide and 4 inches long, near the back edge of the base. Near the center of this strip, you will find two parallel plastic ridges a little over an inch long and separated by about 1 inch. (These are clips that hold the base to the monitor support post.) Squeeze these clips together to remove the base from the support post. (I couldn't manage it that way.) I was able to push the rear clip away from the rear of the base (toward the other clip) and move the rear of the base far enough to release that clip. Once the first clip was released, the other one released quite easily and the base came off in my hand. It is a bit tricky, but doable. Good luck.
