There is a lip type seal on the crankshaft that is likely damaged. In order to get to it, the generator needs to be removed completely.

If the small amount of oil is just an annoyance you can live with, leave it be. The oil should be changed on those frequently, and if you run it in hot weather use a heavier straight weght racing oil. In the US and those areas where the US designations are known- SAE 30 W is best and change oil after 10 hours of operation. It may seem too often, but it is about the same interval of oil change as the cars had back in the days when they were not equipped with an oil filter.

2013 ford explorer low engine oil pressure warning light comes on when I come to a stop or slow down

Check your oil level.

Wear in your engine could cause this, a worn oil pump, leaking seal, worn main bearings or camshaft bearings.

A weak oil pressure sending unit can also be an issue.

As the clearance in your engine increases with wear, the oil pressure will gradually decrease after a certain amount of wear.

You can increase your idle a bit.

You can also change the weight of your oil up from 5w30 to 10w30 or something similar and that will increase the pressure a minimal amount.

Honda generator wont start it was running fine.

If you filled the fuel tank with gasoline enhanced with ethanol the fuel may be bad and caused the carburetor to gum up. Also Honda engines have a low oil sensor and from your description of the oil, can cause problems with the sensor and the engine won't start. Try changing the oil first and then adding a small engine gasoline additive that helps with stale gasoline starting problems.

Oil leaking out my honda 3000is generator.

In the process of using diesel generator set, soft rubber pipe is easy to rub with the parts around it, and it is easy to wear and tear oil leakage in the long run. However, most of the fuel supply system of diesel generator set uses soft rubber tube, so it is not easy to find the oil leakage point. Below are instructions provided by Starlight Power small make up to teach you a few diesel generator unit pipeline leak spot check method.

Method one: exhaust the air from the diesel generator unit, then start the unit to find out the leak point.

Method two: release the gas screw of the unit injection pump and release the oil from the hand oil pump. If it is found that the discharge screw starts to discharge a large amount of bubble oil, and the bubble still does not disappear after the repeated hand pump, it can be determined that there is a leak point in the low pressure oil pipeline from the oil tank to the oil pump section. The pipeline should be removed, pressure gas and placed in water, to find out where the bubble is the leak point.

Oil is very thin

Hi, When you run a small engine it will need a thinner oil. Especially if you run it in a colder climate. Here are the basic rules when it comes to oil:
  • If you just bought a new mower or other piece of equipment, add oil before you start the engine. These products are shipped without oil. Even if the product is delivered to your home fully assembled, check to be sure the engine contains the right amount of oil.
  • Check the oil in your mower, pressure washer, portable generator or other outdoor power equipment each time you use it. Do this when the engine is cool. If the equipment has a dip stick, pull it out and wipe it off, then reinsert it all the way and pull it out again to check the oil level.
  • You should change the engine oil in your outdoor power equipment after 25 hours of use. If you are working under dusty, hot conditions, change the oil more frequently.
  • Don't overfill the crankcase when adding oil. Too much oil can damage the engine.
  • Briggs & Stratton offers oil specially formulated for your mower and other equipment. Our 100% synthetic oil is an all-season oil blended for all small engines. Briggs & Stratton Lawn Mower Oil is formulated for 4-cycle air-cooled engines, and 2-Cycle Ashless Oil is a premium ashless oil with gas stabilizer made for use in 2-cycle air-cooled engines.

I have a Coleman Powermate PRO-GEN 5000 (6250). It has been sitting for a year and the gas value was not shut off (oversite). When checking the oil, it smells like there is gas in the oil-is this possible?

when the engine sets for a long time the gas can seep bast in to the cylinder and their will be some gas you will need to change the oil and take the spark plug out and air i suggest you squirt a small amount of oil in the cylinder gas in the cylinder can wash out the lube to the rings and cause undo wear and start smoking turn the engine by hand slowly to allow lubing of the rings the gas seepage is most likely caused by a float that's not set correctly you may need to rebuild the carb with a kit around 20 bucks ans easy to do at least the clean it well to remove schlack that gas leaves behind when it dissipates and can cause issues.
replace with fresh gas and run the engine and it will smoke for a couple mins do to the oil in the cylinder remove the spark pug after running a couple mins and clean or replace the engine should be fine following the steps above. hope this helps

How much oil is required for 6.75 hp briggs and stratton engine on a 3750 generator?

Probably about 750cc / near 3/4 of a quart. Make sure generator is on level surface, add oil in small amounts and check using dipstick until shows full.

I have an 05 HD Road King. It just started to to spit a small amount of oil from around the air filter area. Could a dirty air filter be the cause. Thanks, Jim

No, your engine crankcase ventilation is routed into the air filter. This is required by the EPA so as to route any oil smoke generated inside the engine is run through the engine and burned. Although there are oil baffles in the ventilation system, some oil does accumilate in the air filter. Periiodic cleaning is required. It should not be an excessive amount such as oil pouring out of your filter after a short ride.

Engin fogs the neiborhood with air filter on.

Sounds like it's pulling oil by the rings/valves -- the air filter is creating more suction. I would try a small amount of an oil additive for high mileage engines. Follow the mixing/proportion directions on the bottle. Sounds like this engine is "wearing out".
