My dryer (~6 years old) runs, tumbles clothes, but does not heat. It worked fine until yesterday when I cleaned the vent. When I put it back in place it did not heat.
PSUinNC The first thing you have to do is to check in what position is the temperature switch . If the temperature switch is in the "air fluff" position, then the heater will stay "off". If this is not an issue, reset the circuit breaker. The motor needs only 120V to run, but the heater needs 240V and if one of legs is missing, the dryer would not heat. If it did not solve the problem, you have to perform full diagnosis. You will need some simple hand tools and a meter to check a continuity. The most common cause for no heat is a blown thermal fuse. If you cleaned a lot of lint out there may have been sufficient air restriction to overheat and pop the fuse. It is not resettable, but in NS costs around $8.00.
Remove the plug from the socket

trace the exhaust air lines untill you find something that looks like the image above, its about the diameter of a quarter. There are often 2
remove the two wires,
test- with a multimeter 0 resisttance=good infinity resistance = bad
- with a battery and bulb, lights = good, dark = bad
If fails test, unscrew two retaining screws, take the thermal fuse to your local dealer and buy one of the same type,
Dealer will have them there are only about 5 kinds for every dryer made.

Inside the dryer drum/drum compartment, there are things that look like little metal bars on the walls of the dryer (usually about 1/8" thick). These are heat/moisture sensors. Clean them off good with a sponge or Scotch brand foam dish cleaning pad with 409 or some other good cleaner (a little warm water and vinegar works). Next, make sure the lint filter is clean. Also, make sure the dryer vent is unclogged from the dryer exit all the way to the exhaust exit. Not only could this be a fire hazard, the clothes will not dry properly if there is blockage. Heating element has gone,change with new
The Igniter is the most replaced part for "no heat" followed by vent blocked 2nd. Thermal fuse / Split coils dead heat for 3rd.Thats a So.Cal. Trifecta.

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.
Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.
Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)
Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Dryer tumbles but no heat and clock doesn't run. Replaced both fuses. Dryer is only 2 months old
have had the circuit board replaced as tumble dryer stopped heating up completely,checked all the thermostats and they all seem to be in fine working order.
