You may need to add memory to the printer so it can que the jobs. The memory is very cheap...128MB 100-pin DIMM for HP OEM# C9121A

Or...you could setup a printer server que and let the print server manage the jobs for you instead of having the printer hold the que.

Got my HP laser jet P1005 plugged into 1 PC prints fine. But 2nd PC is networked to it and it takes ages to print! How can I speed up send PC print job? Both PCs Only ever print single pages.

Well, that really depends upon how you are "networked". Obviously, the primary PC is USB 2.0 connected direct to the printer. When you send a print job, the PC merely starts the print job and sends it to the printer on the fly. The other PC must first spool the entire job, packet it up, send it to the network, then network sends it to the first PC, where it must unpacket it, and send it to the printer. This is definitely going to be slower than a direct connection. And if your network connections are wireless rather than wired, even longer.

I work for a school district, Macintosh environment. A networked laserjet 1320n printer prints out test pages at random. How can I stop this?

Hi. This is tricky to diagnose so just a few general thoughts.
1. The obvious thing is that the printer could have developed a fault and its own processor is causing it to happen.
2. Someone sending a print job is also sending a command (unknown to them) to tell the printer to print the test pages.
3. This is what I think is probably happening. Some printers are set to print out a test page when they are powered up, the two HPs that we have and the Apple laser we had before all did that. What could be happening is that there is a problem with the mains socket or lead - perhaps it's loose? and the power is going off periodically - even for just a moment or two. When the power comes back on - the printer prints out the test.
Let me know if I'm close.

Is there a counter for pages printed on my 1320n

No, the page count is not on the test page. You need the configuration page. Press the GO button and hold for 5 seconds. The yellow light will come on and you can release.

I have an HP Color LaserJet 2840 All-in-One. I have a Word document that has pictures on it that I was able to print 12 out of 50. Now the printer is giving me a prompt: "Low Memory; Press (check mark)...

The standard memory of this HP is 96 MB of RAM. You can add more system RAM for a maximum of 224 MB.

Sounds like the file you're trying to print is rather large, and sending 50 copies through simultaneously may well be eating up the available memory, if the unit is trying to act as a print spooler and process the entire job internally. You may want to try sending a job of 10 through and then waiting until that's processed before sending another batch through.

As an alternative, you could add the additional RAM (as above) and reduce these kinds of problems.

One thing to try is to turn the USB speed down from High Speed to Full Speed. Some of the All-in-One HP's have had problems with their USB speed matching and can cause errors in printing.

Not working on window 2003 server as a network printer

I have had a similar issue with both laserjet 3005N and 1320N machines setup as network printers on a windows 2003 print server. Both machines install correctly and print test pages but once you push to much of a print job to it (in my case it was a 12mb pdf file) the printer stops printing and never prints again for some reason. After a quick reboot a test page will print but what gives?? Buffer issues? Not enough ram? None of this makes sense since the printer displays nothing and just stops printNo test pages or anything. I tried re-installing it and rebooting it. Nothing.
