Re: trying to load the home, it says to just plug into...
Be sure that you have the Tom Tom turned on. Also, if you have it plugged into a front USB port on your computer, try connecting it to one on the back. I hope this helps.

Click the Windows Start button and then click Documents. Open the following folder: TomTom > HOME > Download > complete > map. You see a folder with the name of the map you were trying to install, for instance Europe or United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland. Open this folder.
Plug it in to the PC. Open the PC program. After it is fully loaded, turn on the Tom Tom. You must choose the option to Operate the device. When you are done, make sure you wait until it is shut down, before you disconnect it. Take it outside and try it.
Hi, Here's a link for tomtom home. I would suggest that you try to download it again. When the download starts choose 'save' instead of open. Save it to your desktop (easier to find). after download is complete double ckick the file on your desktop and let it install. You should have no problem doing it this way.
TomTom mobile is something different entirely.
If this helps you plz take the time to rate it for me. Thank you kindly. If you have more questions post comment, I'll be happy to assist you further.
Hello megbert,I own a TomTom also. I have listed the procedures from TomTom Home and hope this will work. First try a soft reset (Reset button is located at the bottom of the TomTom device next to where the DC plug plugs in). Make sure your batteries are fully charged up or the USB cord is plugged in.
If your device is not starting up properly, follow the steps below:
If you have backed up your TomTom to your computer, then you can reinstall the TomTom application from your backed up data.*In rare cases, your TomTom device may not start correctly or may stop responding. If this happens, try resetting your device. A reset does not delete any data.
have you tried setting your home address on the tomtom itself? I was having the same problem until I did that and then it downloaded. But it wont download by itself. You have to go into your "my computer" file and find the tomtom device and select installtomtomhome
If you have the programs downloaded from tomtom home then you need to copy them to the sd card that you purchased. In the home program you can choose to install the programs and map to the sd card. It takes a bit of a search to get the tomtom home program understood. The credit card with the codes is an authorization code for the program.
