First thing to do is to remove the lower back panel behind the frige and disconet one of the water lines that goes to the top back of the frige and push the switch to get water with the line of. do that to the 2 lines one at to give you water back there. if none of the lines gives you water back there 100% that plastic valve needs replacing.

Last night, I connected an active water line to the back of my Kenmore side by side. The ice maker is making ice but water water and ice is not coming out of the dispencer. There is another water jug...

You have a dual water inlet valve where your water supply connects. One goes to the ice maker and the other goes to the water dispenser by way of the water reservoir you mentioned in the fridge.

Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. You should hear the ice door open and the augur motor turning to turn the augur which pushes the ice out the door. If the augur doesn't turn Take all the ice out of the bin and try. perhaps the motor is too weak or the augur is locked up. Take the bin out and try to see if the motor will turn with no load. The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter when you try the dispenser. If you are, probably bad motor. If not ,dispenser switch or solenoid is not working.

Ice maker dispencer motor won't spin. You can hear a click, and the ice dispenser light dims. The water dispenser works fine.

Best solution is to replace the ice maker. The ice makers are a cheap item and very hard to work on. It is easier to replace the ice maker rather than trying to take it a part and replaced the motor or gears. If you do want to take on the project you have to remove the ice maker and check the gears for a worn spot and the motor to see if it is still running. Parts can be purchased at a local appliance dealer. In tulsa we have Greers appliuances.

Ice maker not working

Cause could be the solenoid valve which controls water flow into the ice maker.

Could be bad solenoid, bad relay for solenoid, clogged solenoid valve, corroded electrical connections, etc.

More info? Let me know...

The water will not come out of the dispencer.

There is one water valve but two solenoids, one for the icemaker and one for the water dispencer. If power is getting to the solenoid then replace the water valve. No power getting to the solenoid then the switch at the dispencer is bad.

Icemaker

Do you hear it trying to draw water into the ice tray? If so, there might be an internal problem you can't fix yourself. especially since the fridge is dispencing water. Is the arm inside the ice maker pushe down? This is what tells the ice maker to fill and make the ice.

Let me know if this helps.

Whirlpool side by side

Hi, it sounds like you have a bad auger motor on your dispencer. If the button works for water, usually it will work for ice. It is also possible that you have a bad dispencer control board. If you would provide me your model # I could assist you further.

Frigidaire side by side ice maker, water and ice dispencer inop

It would depend on the age of the refrigerator whether repair is economical. If the refrigerator is under ten years old repair it. If it is over ten years old you have to consider how much life is remaining for the refrigerator. Burnt smell source must be located because that is the key to your problem. It could be a simple matter of replacing the switch in the door.

Maytag mfd2561 water dispencer and ice maker issues

Most likely it is the High Voltage Control board located in the unit compartment (take off the back cover where the water lines are) i have had lots of them failing and doing all kinds of odd things, so far it has been that computer. Part number 12002608
