If I understand correct, the treadmill will not run correct unless you have the safety key in. Well yes this is correct because once the safety key is removed the treadmill will stop. If your treadmill is running extremely fast just by turning it on, you may need a new speed sensor. www.AtlantaFitnessRepair.com

SOURCE: Treadmill (Vision Fitness T8500) turns on, motor doesn't run...

open motor shroud and inspect all connection on the motor control board see if all LED 's are lit except that light up when incline motor is moving up or down. then check the two connector coming from the drive motor to the board sometime over time the two connector will have a cold soldier I would move them to see any excessive movements of the pins then hit start and see if there is any belt movement. Last but not least unplug unit and check the motor brushes if they are less than 3/8 in in length replace them. Call them @ 1-800-335-4348 they under their parent corp. Johnson fitness.

OS or O5 Error on Landice L-Series Treadmills

Probable Cause

An OS or O5 error on the Landice L-Series treadmills, such as the L7, L8 and L9, indicates an over speed condition and this occurs when the actual speed of the running belt is faster than the set speed. The possible causes for an overspeed, OS or O5, error are: A) User weight is over 200lbs, treadmill elevation is set between 10% and 15% grade and speed is set between .5 mph and 3 mph
B) User is pushing against treadmill belt causing it to go faster than the set speed
C) Defective lower board or misaligned speed sensor
D) Maladjusted speed potentiometer

Corrective Action

A) Gravitational force will enable the user's weight to move the treadbelt faster than the set speed. The speed sensor will pick up this increase in flywheel speed and sends this information up to the display electronics. The microprocessor will then compare the actual speed to the displayed speed, determine a runaway speed condition and shut the treadmill down. An overspeed will display in the window. This is a safety feature built into all treadmills that utilize closed loop speed circuitry. The way to address an over speed condition due to gravity is have the user decrease elevation below 10% or increase the speed.

B) Similar to the gravitational force, a user can be holding onto the handrails and pushing the running belt in such a manner where they are using the treadmill like a manual machine rather than a motorized one. User needs to set speed compatible for their actual walking or jogging speed so they are not pushing the belt.

C) It's possible a blown motor control board is the problem. This occurs more frequently with PWM drives than SCR drives. However, this problem is becoming rare due to the PWM circuitry which senses this condition and shuts itself down before the drive motor receives any DC voltage at all. This means you'll get an LS or L5 error if your PWM is blown, not an OS or O5 error. This is a safety feature on all Landice home treadmills with PWM motor control boards. The SCR motor control boards also have internal protection to prevent an over speed condition from occuring due to an internal component failure. In the rarest of cases, on home treadmills, a faulty relay board can cause an OS or O5. To verify this, using a digital voltmeter, with treadmill turned on, measure the DC voltage between the V+ and P1 on the PWM board. The reading should be between 6-7 VDC. Also measure the DC voltage between P1 and P2 on the PWM board. The reading should be between 0.5 VDC and 6-7 VDC. If either of these voltages measure zero, replace the relay board.

D) Get into Open Loop Speed mode and check the speed. Adjust pots as necessary to bring up correct speed for max and min.

Pro form sport 1000 treadmill goes full speed on power up

Typically when this occurs, it is an indication of a short circuit in the motor controller board. To test to make sure the problem is in the board

1) Unplug the treadmill from the wall.

2) Remove the motor hood.

3) Unplug the speed wires from the board. On many boards, you will have 2 to 3 wires that control speed and many are labeled H, W, and L. If you cannot find the speed wires, do not guess, contact us with your make and model number and we will try to help you with the wiring.

4) Return the treadmill to a usable position once the speed wires are disconnected and plug the treadmill back in.

5) If the treadmill begins to run at full speed, the motor control has failed and requires replacement.

6) If the treadmill does not run at full speed you could have a speed input problem, wiring problem, or another short circuit.

Im wondering if there is supposed to be a big magnet on my safety key for my eks treadmill because i went away for the weekend and had house sitters in and i returned to turn my treadmill on and its not...

Shannon-

Yes, EKS uses a magnet in the safety key for their treadmills. You may be able to find replacement magnet at your local hardware store. A dab of glue and you're all set. There are also a numerous online retailers that will sell a replacement EKS safety key. A google search will reveal a number of options.

My powertrek treadmill when switched on goes straight to full speed & will go at this speed only

Typically when this occurs, it is an indication of a short circuit in the motor controller. Please follow the following steps to solve the problem:

First Test
1)Unplug the treadmill from the wall.
2)Remove the motor hood.
3)Unplug the speed wires from the controller. On many controllers, you will have 2 to 3 wires that control speed and many are labeled H, W, and L. If you cannot find the speed wires, do not guess, contact us with your make and model number and we will try to help you with the wiring.
4)Return the treadmill to a usable position once the speed wires are disconnected and plug the treadmill back in.
5)If the treadmill begins to run at full speed, the motor control has failed and requires replacement.
6)If the treadmill does not run at full speed you could have a speed input problem, wiring problem, or another short circuit.

Second Test
1)Unplug your treadmill from the wall.
2)Remove the motor hood.
3)Check and see if your controller has three speed wires labeled H, W, and L or a unified wiring harness labeled H, W, and L from the console. If not, you have a digital controller and full speed upon power up is always a failed controller. No need for further testing...you need to replace the controller.
