Seems more likely to quit when it idles for a while or if the rpms go too high to pass someone. then it wont work till engine cools off. worked fine in spring but hoy weather made it mess up every time

Have an AC repair shop hook up a set of AC pressure gauges while this is happening to see what is going on. You could have a defective AC compressor or a low refrigerant charge in the system. And as to the hot weather causing it to act up that would be normal, the AC would cool fine the cooler the outside air is, problems like worn out compressors and low system refrigerant charge levels would only show there ugly head in hot weather conditions. Also make sure the cooling fans fo rthe AC and engine are working properly. Good luck with this.

You'll have to be able to duplicate the problem to find it.
If it will quit working after idleing for a period of time, a mechanic would check for voltage to the compressor at the relay and the compressor clutch, then go from there.

SOURCE: Odometer quit working

Suggest you visit this website... http://www.hyperocity.com/volvo240/volvoodometer.htm
Odometer is turned by a mechanical gear wheel, which is the likely culprit.

SOURCE: CAR HAS NO AC AND WILL OVERHEAT

Definitely get the fan problem fixed. I had an older Saturn, and it would do that periodically. It turned out I had a bad battery terminal, it would short out from time to time, and if it did so while I was driving, the fan would cut out and therefore not cool the engine. While I was driving it was usually ok, because air could flow, but in traffic, or stopped, it would get pretty hot. I found that turning the heat on and letting it blow full blast would help it stay a little cooler, it'll just cook you inside the car.

SOURCE: Front AC Blower quit working. Rear AC blower

The first thing I would do is check to see if a fuse is blown or bad relay. Then I would unplug the blower motor with a test light make sure you are getting power to the blower located on the far passenger side of the vehicle under the dash if it has power and good ground then suspect vaulty motor. If you are not getting power at the plug then you might have a bad switch or resister. If it does have a blown fuse remember they usually blow for a reason like faulty wiring or even a in the motor itself. I would also recommend that you change the ac cabin filters behind the glove box if they have not been changed most people neglect them on that vehicle because they are a little more difficult to change, after removing the glove box there is a metal bracket in the way of opening the cabin filter compartment. They wont cause a blower motor to not work, however they do restrict airflow to the evaporator and they protect you from pollen, dust, and even exhaust gases. Hope this helps.

My Toyota Camry 2007 A/C wont work the freon is

To check for leak in evaporator, charge the system fully, with green neon dye,and use the glasses made for that.Let the ac run a good bit ,and condensation is leaking from the evaporator case, and look for the dye in the condensation.

Ac system does not retain freon, cannot find leak when using dye.

Most probably the leak in in the evaporator side of your AC system. Look under the car near the passenger side of the rear engine compartment for the condensate drain and see if you find the UV dye there. If so then that is where the loss is happening. If you don't see it there be sure that the condensate hose is not clogged. You will have to get the car on a mechanic's rack to find and clear that problem. You will have that problem if you ever found water in the passenger floorboard after a sharp left turn. Use a long #2 phillips screw driver to clear.

I've got a 2002 Montana in the shop and the A/C has got a leak. The condensor was replaced 2 months ago and system pressure tested ok. Has dye in it and there is absolutely no trace anywhere. The...

The AC may stop working due to a refrigerant leak from the condenser - this is not uncommon in Montanas built between 2001 and 2003. GM has developed and updated condenser and mounting bracket to help prevent the replacement condenser from failing in the same manner.

I'm not sure why the dye isn't showing.

Usual cost of the fix is around $550.

I have a 98 ford expedition that is leaking the freon out when put in, the air compressor is working, how do i get this fixed

You'll have to locate the leak then repair it. To locate a leak in the A/C system you can add dye to it. When the dye leaks out it will show up under a black light. There are also electronic leak detectors but they can be quite pricey.

I have replaced everything in the ac system on my ford focus se 2001 and it still leaks freon somewhere, mechanic had it for 4 days and could not find the leak

No way he replaced everything and have a leak unless he didnt put it together correctly. Suggest contacting the manager from the establishment and if he can straighten it out get your money and go to a dealer. If they cant help you file with the better business bureau.
That being said 3 high leak areas are the condenser by the radiator (looks like a small radiator) , the evaporater (in the dash to make the car cool) and the compressor mounted to the motor. With dye in the system he should have no issue charging it and looking for leaks.

2002 saturn l100 A/C wont work

ok ac system has a pressure switch that stops the compressor when freon is too low. they actually say it is ok for mobile a/c systems to lose a half pound a year. most a/c systems run on under 2 pounds of freon. so after 3 or 4 years some systems will just quit working. you are at 8 to 9 years so i would recommend you find an independant shop that will top off your a/c and see if it works again. this should not cost more that 50 to 75 bucks. If you were here that is what i would charge. I am in columbus ohio just to let you know. hope this helps and thanks for using fixya

A/c problems in 2002 buick rendezvous

it does sound like your AC line has a hole in it. I would replace the hose if you can see the leak. if you cannot see it then run a dye through the system and then put on the pair of UV leak detector glasses that you can buy at the parts store for like $15

The speedometer quit working on a 2001 town and country. I replaced the output sensor, but it still doesn't work. The check engine light is not on.... Any suggestions???

Try pressing the trip odometer reset button for 5 seconds. It will flash2.gif an error code. Then the odometer lights will flash, a bunch of error codes2.gif flash. Let it finish.

I found this on fixya before, and it worked for my van. I didn't replace anything.
