To make your Philips BDP3100 region free (this works on a BDP3100/05 purchesed in the UK in June2010)
1. Make sure there is no disc in the tray when you switch on. 2. Press "home" key on remote control. 3. Enter number "1389310". 4. Switch off. Wait a few seconds and then switch on...now region free.
Please note, the above hack has only been confirmed as providing region-free DVD, not Blu-Ray.
1. Turn on player. 2. Open disc tray. 3. Wait till 'Open' appears on screen 4. Type 9 6 5 3 5. Press up or down button to reach REGION option 6. Press OK button 7. Scroll UP/Down to TEST0 , press OK 8. Press setup again to exit
The DVD you're using is probably from elsewhere than the region you live in. It is almost certainly possible to temporarily change the region by using a trick which will not damage your machine in any way. Google "Philips DVP642 region hack" and there will be an answer.
Try searching the net for 'region code hack' for your model number. You can try on Fixya too, this time just put the above. If anyone knows it you should get a reply.
Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?
start the player without any DVD in it. open the lid. while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0 you should see region 0 displayed. close the lid.
Your DVD player is now region free.
note: replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.
