MS Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 - Magnifier

I want to turn off the magnifier feature.

Very irritating!

It comes on when the knuckle of the finger on the side of the mouse contacts the long, thin (gray) button on the outside, upper corner of the mouse.

press both the side buttons and hold it for 5 seconds

I tried holding the skinny side buttons down for 5 seconds and I still have the magnifier on. Any other suggestions?

All the buttons are programable and easily accessed through the mouse icon in the startup menue. Click Statup, Click the mouse program icon, a window appears with each of the mouse buttons listed with drop down menues. Click the drop down menue of the button of interest, select one of about 20 choices (in my case "disabled"), click Apply, click Save.

If the problem is occuring with MS Office 2007 Excel, go to Options (Logo-button in extreme upper left corner of spreadsheet) > Excel options (button at bottom of drop-down menu) > Customize > Advanced.  The eighth checkdown  box toggles 'Zoom on roll with Intellimouse'.

I accidentally turned on the wireless 5000 mouse magnifier and can't get rid of the magnifier. How do I turn it off?

Normal 0 The button on the left side of the mouse when pressed turns the Magnifier on/off. Just press it again and it should turn off.
I kept turning it on accidentally so I went in the control panel and switched the Magnifier to the right side. I added that below so you can set your mouse buttons.

Go to Control Panel and click on the Mouse icon. Then the mouse properties will appear showing the mouse buttons. In the Left column is the button settings. The bottom one is the Right Button, which is set for Magnify. Whenever you hit the Right Side button the magnifier will turn on. To turn it off, hit the Right Side Button and off it goes. You can change any of the button settings by clicking on the drop down.

Can't get magnifier off screen

First of all make sure to update to the latest driver. The problem is, the side buttons are very easy to push without meaning to do so. Right click the mouse icon in your system tray and select "Mouse Properties" select the BUTTONS tab, then disable both the left and right side mouse buttons. Click on APPLY and then OK

I had to move the magnify function to the left button because it was to sensitive on the right.
