Make sure the jumper on the hard drive has 1 set to master and the 2nd one to slave. or set them both to cable select. i bet you have them both set to master and thats why it only boots when you have just one hooked up

Computer won't resume after standby (os: vista)

Make sure all Vista updates have been installed, and check the ASUS website for any bios updates. I believe that motherboard had a known issue with stand bye.

Want to run both Raid 5 (4 drives) and a single SATA boot drive

Download the latest beta BIOS 1238. I had the same problem when adding a Samsung 1TB HDD to my RAID config. Updating to BIOS v1238 solved the Intel RAID Matrix "hanging" instantly.

You can't download it through the official Asus support page yet, but there's a topic in the Asus support forum with a link. You could also call Asus support and request the file, or just download it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/186891601/P5B-Deluxe_1238.rar :)

AHCI

choose RAID mode.. that should enable AHCI. (as per wikipedia) on your motherboard so that means.. that if you're installing the os on this hdd you may want to use the raid driver for it which is likely what's in the ASUS cd you got so your os get to use the hdd as it's meant to be used.

you may also want to make sure you're using the right sata connector on your motherboard: check page 33

the problem could laso lay in your cables.. it's know the average may be affected by faulty SATA cable or faulty SATA power cable (powersupply issue)

you may also want to run a backup of your data and then run a defrag and a checkdisk on the drive, and it's probably also worth it to rung Seatools (download from this page: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/ ) to check the health of your hd.

Also try to update the SATA controller drivers or the motherboard chipset

lastly, post the results of your tests here on fixya or better yet: in here: http://forums.seagate.com for further follow up.

try each recommendation one at a time and then test the speed of your hd to see if there's improvement.. make sure you back up before you do anything drastic.

good luck (it took me 2 hours to pos

Asus p5b-mx motherboard not showing display but every thing is on

Hi camlamm, check out Asus CPU supported list link;
http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5B-MX&os=17
See if your CPU is in the list.
Bios not booting? If you are receiving any display on your monitor the trouble is not the graphics card. Suggest you clear the cmos jumper. See page 1-26 instructions your manual. This Asus board is warranted for three years. If nothing gives you access to the bios, suggest you call Asus tech, M-F, 8:00AM to 5:00PM EST at: 1-812-282-2787.

Good luck camlamm!

2 Sata Hdd not supported

Hi rafiqbrush, let me go over a few things for the P5B MB.
There is a total of 5 serial ATA SATA drive ports on the board & one ATA IDE/PATA port.
The 4 main SATA ports are numbered, 1 - 4. Your primary SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 1. Your second SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 3. See page 2-26 in your manual.
All SATA drives are seen as master drives. Once the two SATA drives are connected (As per manual), boot to the bios main menu.
At the main bios menu make sure your bios shows both SATA drives. Than go to the bios title "Boot". Make sure your primary SATA drive 1 is listed in the boot order. Save & exit the bios. (SATA drive 1 must have windows installed on it).

Help!

Have you installed RAM? If not the machine will not boot. You may also need to enter the BIOS setup to set the CPU and DRAM voltages and multiplyers etc. Follow the instructions in the manual for setting up the CPU info in the BIOS. Are you sure your PSU has enough guts to run the setup? Many times have i seen setups fail because a cheap power supply has been overstretched.
