My upper thread keeps breaking and I think the needle is dull. I went searching through my sewing stuff and found Kenmore needles in red, purple and green.
On the internet, I found descriptions for blue #14 (jersey tricot, swimwear, single knit), red #14 (flannel, velour, muslin, velveteen, poplin, corduroy), and purple #16 (denim, fake fur, double-faced wool). I haven't found anything on green. What is green for? I'm using charmeuse silk (19.5 mm - tightly woven). What should I use? [And the rhetorical question - if Sears uses color-coding, why don't they have a guide somewhere on their site?]
Hi there, The different colors only correspond with the size of the needle. Green is actually a size 18 (110) needles which is basically as big as they come! your best bet would be to go with a size 11 (75) or 12 (80) needle. For the Kenmore color coding it would blue or orange respectively. Hope this helps
