How do I scan to a pdf file? I have a Brother MFC-240C. When I push the scan button, the only options there are to scan are;
1. scan to email
2. scan to a file (which scans to jpeg file)
3. scan to OCR
4. scan to image
There is no option to scan to pdf file. Thanks.

What you seem to want to do is not possible. Let me explain:
A file that has its data in the Adobe company Portable Document Format (or a pdf file) contains various objects that are described to the computer using a superset of the PostScript language, some of them can be images.
A file that comes from the scanner is first a very organized set of pixels and gets put into a more compact form by using a well known process as defined by the Joint Motion Picture Experts group. This is a roundabout way of saying that it has a format that isn't PDF.
What you CAN do:
a) open the jpeg file with a Macintosh, using the Print command from the file menu make a pdf file that has the image in it.
b) buy and install a PDF printer driver on a Windows machine, and then follow the same process as A above.
c) Use your favorite PDF creation program to make a file with the image embedded.

Follow the below Steps:-
1. Install Latest Control Center software in your PC. You can download it from Brother Website.
2. Open Control Center Software
3. Click on the "Configuration"->"Custom Scan" -> "Custom 1"
4. Select "Scan to file" and goto "Settings" tab and choose the file type as PDF and Click "OK"
5. Click on Scan
4. Click on "Custom" (This will be a small text just above on the left side of "Image" button)
5. Choose the Custom 1.
This will create pdf documents out of the scan.

Although I can get an image in documents when I scan from HPC4280 to iMac the image will not open to a pdf file even though I have selected pdf before scanning
Why has my scanner started to only scan as pdf files? These can't be edited and are no good to me. Up until two days ago it scanned as just pictures and I could edit them. Now everything comes to the computer as a pdf!!!
