by typing into the browser address URL www.gmail.com
in an internet browser program and then logging into their account. They need to know the user name and password. It is web browser based email service so it does not need to use an email client on your computer as long as your computer is able to connect on the internet.
I could & I arrived here "Welcome to Pearson MyLabsPlus", which is a gateway to "El Paso college". (IP address 159.182.164.119). Normally I'd just give you the url using the IP address but it wont work as its a secured link.
My guess is that either your browser is damaged (by malware which is redirecting you though an alternate gateway which doesn't have the DNS record) or your ISP's dns simply doesn't know this URL.
Does the same thing happen if you use a different browser like Chrome for instance?
Try to reset internet explorer.
To reset Internet Explorer settings
Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
Reopen Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, and then click Internet options.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset. ...
In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
Network faults
Temporarily change your DNS settings.
Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
4.Now look at the bottom of the screen you will see preferred DNS press the "Use the following DNS server address" and in the first preferred enter 8.8.8.8 and the second enter 8.8.4.4
This is the IP address of the Google DNS servers which will replace your ISP's one. I have tested Google and it knows your El Paso college gateway IP.
Once you have done that OK it and either do a START>RUN>CMD>ipconfig /renew
or reboot the computer.
Try this fix and if it works you can safely leave the settings as is. It wont make any difference to you normal browsing. If not just re access the settings and click the obtain DNS server automatically.
Open a web browser and connect to your router by typing in
its URL. The basic URL set for many routers is either
http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1/. The URL for your router
should be its IP address. If you are unsure what yours is, do the
following: click "Start," then "Run." Type "Command" and then press
"OK." In the DOS pop-up, type "ipconfig," and then press "Enter." This
will give you a list of information about your internet connection; the
IP address listed under "Default Gateway" should be the IP address for
your router.
Enter your router user name and password to log into your
router. Entering the router's IP address into a browser will bring up a
pop-up requesting this information.
Search through the administrative tools and menus that your
router offers, for a list or table of DHCP clients or of attached,
connected, or active devices or computers. Different routers have
different administrative options, so menu labeling will vary, but there
should be a place to find a list of devices and IP addresses currently
using the network. For example, users of the popular Linksys WRT54GL
router can click "Status," then on the "Local Network" sub menu, and
finally click on "DHCP Clients table" to bring up a list of attached
devices.
I would suggest that you click on the tools and options in IE and return all the settings to default. Also, clear the browser cache. Then check the network connection to make sure your firewall is not blocking IE. Oh, yes--then go to IE and try to navigate to Google. Perhaps the URL in the address box is bad.
1) Try a system restore. Go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore Follow prompts to reset computer to a time when it was working correctly in the past. All downloaded programs will be lost, but documents and photos should not be affected. Suggest you back up anyway.
2) Try a work-around on your computer. Go to Start > all programs > accessories > wordpad. Open wordpad > click Help > select Help topics > box opens In upper left corner of box is yellow question mark > click question mark > select 'jump to URL' URL box opens Fill in URL with the web address shown below http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ Download Firefox browser and see if it will work correctly Or download Chrome browser, etc
Try plugging your computer directly into the range extender first, with an ethernet cable. Then check your computer for an IP. To do this follow these steps:
XP: click start> then run> type "cmd" and hit enter.
type "ipconfig" and hit enter, it should show you a default gateway address, that is the number you should type in your browser (IE: internet explorer)
Vista: click start> then in the start search type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter, it should show you a default gateway address, that is the number you should type in your browser (IE: internet explorer)
Every time I try to begin the configuration for my DWL-G730AP router, when I type the http://192.168.0.30/ in the URL, Gateway and Google tell me they can't find this address and instead give me a list of suggested web pages. My D-Link router instructions say to type the above in...
