Hi Pam -

This is a common problem with the CX 5000 - there is no contrast control (i.e., light/dark) like you would have on a photocopier. But if you use the scanning mode (EpsonScan) instead of the copying mode, there are a couple of alternative options that might help:

1) Brightness - in the EpsonScan program, in Home Mode, under Image Adjustments, there is a button labelled "Brightness." Depending on the colors and contrast of what you're copying, adjusting the brightness may help.

2) Color Restoration - In both Home Mode and Professional Mode, this feature is meant to restore the color to a faded photo - depending on the colors of your document, it may make the copy lighter or darker, but it's an option.

Hope this helps!

I applied a too-dark Watco teak oil to a small section of oak flooring. How can I lighten the tone?

This could be difficult depending on how far in the stain oil penetrated the wood. Sanding removes the top stain. You may want to watch this video and see if it's something you want to try.

it's only possible to lift 3 shades (like 3to 6, or 4 to 7) without taking undertones into consideration. To go from a dark brown (level 3) to a 9n you would have to pre-lighten your hair with an on the scalp bleach first. Then color with 9n and 20 volume

I have gone through $100 in ink this month alone for my Lexmark 705 Pro Prevail. It prints like 20 word doc pages (not photos) and then it says it is empty again, and the cartridges need constant...

Hi there,

Check the settings of your printer, either in the software that came with it or the printing preferences in the Control Panel. If your ink tone is set too dark, it could be using a lot of ink. If this is not the case, then:

1) Clean the ink cartridges
2) Replace the ink cartridges as they may have expired. 3) Replace the printer and find one which uses cartridges that can perform more copies in a single fill.

SHARP SF 2214 IS MAKING VERY DARK COPIES. CAN'T FIND TGE REASON

Unplug power & remove glass. Carefully clean the mirrors that you can see. There are 2 other mirrors under the dark box and 1 screw should allow uou access to them. If this does not help then maybe a drum blade problem.

Toshiba 2060 Photocopier prints copies that are a bit too dark.

restart the copier while holding down the "0" and "5" keys. you will now be in service mode. enter "5" and press "start" key a number should show up in the display. this is the exposure value - how dark or light the copies will be. 5 is the automatic exposure setting. around 128 is the normal value. the larger this value the lighter the copies are - the smaller the value the darker the copies.
Enter a new number (exposure value) and press the "interupt" key to save the value. Restart the copier and check what the copies look like. Keep adjusting until it looks good/better.

Printing too dark

Check the properties of the printer in Windows, make sure it's not using any odd color profiles. My Epson uses E411__1 as it's color profile. There might also be brightness and contrast sliders in the printing preferences that you can adjust or return to default.

Too dark

This IS an inverter issue. You need a new inverter. Open the LCD and find the inverter model number and search Ebay.
