SOURCE: I have an Amana gas dryerDLG330RAW that doesn't

I have, for the 2nd time in 2 years, replaced the gas valve coils on my Amana dryer. Usually, intermittent (inconsistent) heat or no heat is caused by bad gas valve coils. They are one of the most common parts to fail and cost between 35 and 40 dollars for a valve coil kit and are easy to replace yourself. Remove the front of the dryer (or the bottom front panel, in some cases) and locate the gas valve. It is near the front, in most cases. There is a plate, held with 2 bolts, holding the coils on top of the gas valve. Remove the bolts and the plate, disconnect the coil wires from each coil and slide the coils off. Then place the new coils on top, hook up the wires, replace the retainer plate, and you should be back in business. Take note of which coil sits on which part of the gas valve. On my dryer, one coil has a 2 prong connector, and the other has 3 prongs. This should make it easy to determine which is which.

Ignitor glows but short cycles

Ignitors don't "blow flames". But a defective ignitor can glow but not draw enough current to allow the gas valve to open to the burners.
Replace the ignitor. It's the "weakest link" and most likely part to wear out through use in the ignition system.

I have an Amana Dryer Model # LGD20AW and when the dryer is first turned on the glow plug will heat up and ignite the gas but as the dry cycle continues the glow plug will heat up but no flame will ignite...

The glow coil or glow bar heats up and a sensor on the side reacts to the heat and then sends a signal to a gas valve.(solenoid valve) When the gas doesn't ignite when the coil is glowing... here are some reasons. 1. The sensor on the side of the burner assembly isn't working or sending power to the valve. 2. The valve is getting power but not opening. 3. The ignitor is not glowing hot enough to activate the flame sensor. Usually it is the sensor or the igniter not the valve.

Gas won't ignite, no heat. were to start troubleshooting.

If the motor is running you need to determine if the glow ignitor is coming on.

On the front of the dryer in the lower left corner is a small plastic square, pry this square piece off.

Start the dryer in a heat cycle and watch through the window.

- If the ignitor glows for a while then shuts off and no flame appears the problem is the gas valve coils.

- If the ignitor glows and does not stop glowing the problem is the radiant sensor

- If the ignitor does not glow and you hear a 'clunk' every few minutes from the area close to the small window you are looking into then the ignitor is bad.

- If there is no glow and no clunk the problem is most likely the thermal fuse or thermal cut off.

- the thermal cut off trips if you have a venting problem and there is inadequate air flow

Sorry this is so lengthy, but there is a lot that can cause the symptoms you described.

Whirlpool gas dryer Model #WGD5530SQ0 not heating properly

If your dryer heats when you first turn it on and after a few minutes it does'nt. check the ignitor to see if it is glowing. It should glow bright then you will hear a click and the burner will light. If the ignitor glows bright but you hear a click but no flame and if you watch this for several minutes and this process continues of glow then glow goes out no flame, then you have a bad burner coil. There are 2 black solenoids sitting on top of gas valve. One of them is shorting out after it warms up. Replace both solenoids. You can usually get them as a kit from parts store.

My Amana dryer only stays hot for about 3 - 5 minutes. Then it turns the gas off. The drum rotates fine, the ignitor appears to work fine, but then it shuts itself off. Any suggestions?

Make certain the internal and external exhaust vent is clear of lint or any blockage. If there is no exhaust problem and the glow bar ignitor is working correctly, replace the gas valve coils.

Dryer Model DE306 has stopped heating

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

I have an Amana model #ndg7800aww gas dryer thats not heating. the glow bar glows the gas comes on for a few minutes then the glow bar just keeps cycling.

The problem is with the 2 little gas coils.
I change about 3 of those per week.

Parts will run you around $20 and it's fairly easy to replace.

Please feel free to email me if you need help installing. Thank you :)

Amana Gas Dryer Model LG44097 suddenly quit heating. Can I correctly assume the problem is the Fabric Selection knob, part PS2201078 that controls heat/no heat?

probably not as these rarely go. More likely is that the glow bar ignitor on the gas valve has failed. Unlike old gas models, today's dryers do not use a standing pilot but a glow ignitor. This is the weakest link in the system. Part number fsp-279311
