SOURCE: I have an Amana gas dryerDLG330RAW that doesn't
I have, for the 2nd time in 2 years, replaced the gas valve coils on my Amana dryer. Usually, intermittent (inconsistent) heat or no heat is caused by bad gas valve coils. They are one of the most common parts to fail and cost between 35 and 40 dollars for a valve coil kit and are easy to replace yourself. Remove the front of the dryer (or the bottom front panel, in some cases) and locate the gas valve. It is near the front, in most cases. There is a plate, held with 2 bolts, holding the coils on top of the gas valve. Remove the bolts and the plate, disconnect the coil wires from each coil and slide the coils off. Then place the new coils on top, hook up the wires, replace the retainer plate, and you should be back in business. Take note of which coil sits on which part of the gas valve. On my dryer, one coil has a 2 prong connector, and the other has 3 prongs. This should make it easy to determine which is which.
