Mitsubishi is replacing these DMD IC chips nationwide under an unannounced kind of recall for model #'s WD60C9, WD73733, WD57734, WDY657, WD73734, WD65735, WD60735, WD65C9, WD73840, WD65833, WD65733, WD73735, WD73833, WD57733, WD65734 and others. Call them @ 800-332-2119 and give them your model, serial # and date of purchase, tell them you have the white spots, they will set up a workorder with a local Mitsubishi servicer to come to your home and replace the DMD chip. Mitsubishi will supply the part (part # 276P595010) for free, but you must pay $200 in labor. BUT...if you ask for Shantell Hebert when you call Mitsubishi, and really push the issue, she will also pay half of the $200 labor fee, so you go from $400 to repair to only $100. Once that chip is replaced, the unit works great again!!

SOURCE: Small white dots are showing up on the screen when

The white spots you are seeing are a result of dust or dirt in the light asm. Mits knows about this as a problem. The inside chamber of the tv needs to be cleaned. If your tv is in warranty they will come to your home and fix it. If not it is very easy to damage the tv by trying yourself, start with cleaning out the chamber that the bulb is in, use compressed air to blow out dust and dirt, them on the sides of the tv are round flaps that will need to be removed and this will go into the main mirror chamber, be careful but blow out any dust or dirt you see on the mirror. I would have a repair tech handel this unless you are skilled in this area.
good luck

Your light engine is failing. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine which should help you get the parts and remove and replace the bad unit.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

SOURCE: I have White and black

I developed white spots on the screen of my Mitsubishi WD-57734 in increasing numbers over days and weeks. I called a repair service who quoted me $1500 to replace the light engine. He suggested I call Mitsubishi Customer relations at 800-332-2119 option 5 which i did. To make a long story short after several conversations with them they agreed to replace the part for free if I picked up the labor (Would have been less conversations if I had the original purchase receipt). Instead of $1500 I paid $250. The tv was only 3.5 years old. Perseverance paid off.

My mitsubishi 65in tv has a lot of small white dots on the screen what causes this?

projection tvs can display white dots from the dust that is on the reflector mirror your lamp shines the picture on before it is reflected onto the front screen of your tv, one must be very careful when cleaning this, may be worth a service man doing it for you

Sir, its white small dots on complete screen, like sky with stars,

Place a white piece of paper about 1000mm in front of the screen and focus the image sharply.
Choose menu, image, advanced then select color manager.
go through the color options and check if some pixels are permanently on or off (ie small dots or black) instead of a uniform colour on the screen.

The DLP chip is most likely the faulty component

White dots all around the screen

This problem is usually due to the DLP (Digital Light Processor) chip which can be replaced, although this is not cheap and not something for a novice to attempt.

Little green and white boxes on the screen

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens.Found it right here http://www.discount-merchant.com/MITSUBISHI-RMD62-939P977A20-Light-Engine-p/1138084.htm?Click=48173 Have a blessed one!
