I bought this tv in 1997... worked great until last week. TV just shutdown on it's own while watching, it made some noise. Anyway, when I now plug it back it, it keeps tripping the circuit breaker... so I am guessing there is a short circuit.
I took out the power supply board and was poking around with a multimeter. I did a continuity test at CN602 (this is where 120v wall outlet connects) and found that both leads were shorted (ie. continuity test beeped)... is that normal ?? This explains why circuit breaker kept resetting when I plug in the tv.
I'd appreciate any ideas.
Thanks

I replaced 4 parts and now there is no short, but now TV doesn't turn on at all. What should I try next? Should I just trash the TV?
I replaced 4 parts that commonly go bad.. now there is no short, but TV doesn't power on. what should I try next? Is it worth spending time on this or just trash it?
