I got an Sony HCD S 300 Home Theater set recently. As I put in dvds and cds for playing, the dvd player says NO DISK. Thinking it is because it is not a original dvd it isn't working, I put another DVD...

It could be down to the Region of the Player or the Laser is Failing. As it doesn't play CDs then I suspect the the Laser is Failing (almost failed if it plays a cleaner but not CDs).

I put a dvd in but the system is not reading it. i've tried other dvds and tried all 5 disc changers, but my system is still not reading any dvds. what is wrong?

Hi, what makes the DVD not to be able to read the inserted DVD's is because the lens of the player is too weak to spin the dvd plate to play.

You will need to use a DVD Lens cleaner to clean up the lens inside the player to clean up dirt disturbing it from not playing any DVD cd.

If after cleaning the Lens and still does not play, you will need to replace the Lens..

Have a nice day..

Pioneer xv-hdt520 stereo dvd/cd player cant get it to play cd,s works fine on the dvd part of it and all discs are read by the same reader it just tries to start then boots the cd out no matter which...

I would guess this model is over two years old. not sure how much you paid, but target sells a decent surround sound blue ray system for just under 300. i got it. it works great, streams netflix movies an even has an internet radio system in it.

if you dont wanna do that, and have made sure that you have tried brand new cds, another option is to play cds on a cheap cd player hooked into your surround sound. it can go in any input on the back with an adaptor you can buy at radio shack, or many of them have an input in the front.

they used to make a cd lens cleaner, not sure if they still exist. it was a tiny brush hooked onto a cd that you put in and it cleaned up the lens.

bottom line is that it makes little to no sense to me that it would play dvds and not cds. i would assume that they both use the same lens to read the device.

My dvd player will not play any dvds or cds... It says disc error

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it say disc error.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

My BOSS 380DVD will not load DVD's, it will play CD and the radio, but the DVD player stopped

This is normally caused by a dirty lens. It will play cds because they are easier to read, but dvds use the whole lens to play. You need to run a lens cleaner in your system and it will work like it should.

Will not play dvd s

I guess, this happens with every CD/DVD player - and the root reason is fine grain sticky dust on the lens + backlash of laser driver motor.

Please take this as a general guideline:
If possible, open the DVD player - not all DVD players are designed to have quick access to lens - however you can try.

Get a micro-fibre lens cleaning cloth - do not use any fluid - be very very gentle, while wiping the lens - and I am quite sure you will see dirts in the microfibre cloth.

I did so for 2 of my DVD players, one was bit expensive one from ONKYO - even with visual inspection, the lens looks shining and no dirt, when I rubbed [very gentle rubbing] with micro-fibre cloth [I got from Pro Camera/Photography shop - as lens cleaner] - I got good results.

Disc reading

hi there

long reading time for cds or dvds only means that there might be dust or residues hindering your cd lens to accurately read the data of the cd/dvd. what you can do is try to clean the lens with a cd cleaner.always check the cd/dvd that you insert are clean and fre of dust . if this still wont work and the player still have the long time to read the cd/dvds, my advise is to bring this to a service center and have this checked out.

hope this helps.
