Refer to your motherboard manual, since the motherboard is the beeping device. These beeps are like Morse code, and each "beep code" is explained in the manual. Common beep codes include not having a monitor or keyboard properly connected; not having a CPU fan connected, or not attaching internal power cables to the video card. This black-screen-and-beeping issue is most common with newly-assembled computers.

  • 2

Check external cables to make sure they're properly connected. The most important external connections to check are the monitor's signal cable and the keyboard. If your monitor cable looks damaged or kinked, try replacing it with a spare. If your keyboard's cable looks frayed, try a spare keyboard.

Also, a PS/2 keyboard plug (round, with holes in it, about the diameter of a finger) is often color-coded purple. If you have plugged it into the green port in the back of the computer (for PS/2 mice) switch it to the other one. If there is no color coding, the proper port should have a small, embossed icon of a keyboard on the back of the computer. If it does not, refer to your motherboard manual for the correct port. If all else fails, try a spare keyboard, preferably USB (Universal Serial Bus), which can be plugged into any USB port on the back of the computer.

  • 3

  • Check for additional motherboard power connections. Yours may require multiple cables attached from the power supply. There is the standard wide plug, which you know is connected properly because your motherboard is beeping. However, there may also be an additional, four-pin cable that connects elsewhere on the motherboard. Check the board's manual to make sure it has all the power connections it needs.

Check your internal cables. Make sure that the CPU fan is plugged into the motherboard header nearby. Without that, the CPU fan will not spin, and the motherboard may detect this lack of connection and produce a beep code. Your video card also may have one or two internal power plugs that need to be attached to the power supply's cables. These cables have unique ends on them, similar in shape to a USB plug. Refer to the case or video card documentation if need be. If those cables are not attached, your motherboard may refuse to boot the system.

Your video card may be faulty. If this is a new card, it may have arrived to you broken, in which case you will probably need to request an RMA (Return to Manufacturer Authorization) to receive a replacement. If this card was previously working for you in this system, you can contact its manufacturer yourself to receive a replacement, if the device is still under

When i turn onToshiba Satellite M100-JG2, get black screen, and hear 2 bee sounds, computer won't start.

Two beeps a generally a memory parity error.

Use a test utility like memtest86 to check it. Youll need another computer with a CDRW to create a test disk from an ISO.
Then boot the computer with the cd in and it should run from CD.

1993 Montero will not start. Has Clifford alarm and remote start. Started acting up 2 weeks ago and would not start with key, started with remote. Key then started working. Since then problem has occurred...

Hello my name is Israel. I will try to help you out. I would first check to make sure it is not the alarm. You will need to get under the sterring column area and look for a black/yellow wire that is spliced. You will need to connect that wire back together. This black/yellow wire is for the starter. If the alarm is acting up and you spice this wire back together it should start. If the vehicle, after connecting this wire together, does not start then you probably have a starter problem. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Green light, black screens, no sound, needs new battery???

The alarm is just a coincidence i suspect, green light comes on and stays on probably not the battery at fault. It would be red.
If the green light goes out and screens just flash one of your screens are at fault or a loose ribbon connection.

How do you turn off the alarm

What you need to do is hit "Mode" until you're in alarm mode, then hit start until all you see is :00, then if you hit adjust it'll disable the hourly beep. To disable the alarms press the start button until the alarm you want to disable (Will appear on the screen above the mode button) then press but don't hold adjust, the AL1 -5 should disappear from above the mode button now.

Alarm goes off when it starts up

The alarm is a BIOS alarm. It is warning you of either a cooling fan failure or the processor getting too hot. Either way, you need to fix the problem, not just ignore it!

I would check that all the fans are running correctly and would also recommend that you give the insides of your computer case a clean out - you'll be amazed at how much dust can build up in there! This may well cure the problem.

If it is a processor temperature alarm, rather than turning it off, you may want to adjust it so it doesn't sound until a higher temp. is reached. You can adjust this from the BIOS screen, but I would check the maximum temp. that your processor is designed to run at before doing so.

To get to the BIOS screen to turn it off, press the delete key (repeatedly) while the machine is booting.

I can't tell you exactly when to find it in the BIOS, as this can vary from one computer to the next. Just navigate you way around until you find the relevant section.

    **** WARNING ****

Changing settings in the BIOS can affect the computers performance, prevent it from starting, or even cause permanent damage to hardware. Unless you know exactly what you're doing, I wouldn't recommend changing things!

    Hope this helps,

    Matt

    Reminders and wake-up-alarm problems

Here is how to hard-reset your MDA/Wizard using a key combo - courtesy of a smart T-Mobile tech support help desk guy who wrote a note about it as it's not in official help doc's: 1. Simultaneously hold down the Communication Manager and Voice Dial buttons and put the Soft Reset 'button' with the stylus tip - all at the same time. 2. You see a very scary looking black screen with white letters in System font reading something along the lines of ?Are You Sure? Press Send key to continue.? 3. When you push the 'Send' key, the Green pick-up the phone key process starts 4. Next you will see what made me smile like a kid - Formatting FAT partition and very briefly in matter of few seconds began normal first boot.
