External Antenna for TOMTOM GO700

Hello, I'm in need of a schematic/or pin-out info to modify my GO700. I want to add a gps external antenna to the STOCK DOCKING CRADLE (not gps unit). There should be ground and coax center conductor pins. This should be as the TOMTOM GO part number: 1D00008, OEM External Antenna Kit for my GO700.
Thanx,
Mike

Forget TomTom. Go buy this one

I talked to TomTom multiple times on the phone and had same problem but finally found this. It's better quality and it's available.

No gps signal on my tomtom one

Hello,

the antenna is the cause if the gps is not having signal or reception.

Check the antenna is broken or well fixed. If not, you will have to replace the antenna.

Take care.

My tomtom go 300 will not work.no gps device showes on device

hi, looks to me if you have no sats recveived. try to go online with tomtomhome program an download the latest quickgpsfix file. also try if it works better when you are outside. a heat protective coating can disturb the antenna, then you will need an external antenna. good luck and if its still not working proper, you can always ask for more options. greetings

How to add external antenna to a GE 75300 GE Slim Spacemaker

the antenna is internal (I couldnt find an external adapter) - u need to open the top (20 or so screws). Theres a "pipe" thru the back that leads pretty straight into the antennae. Hook ur metal to the closest bundle and out the pipe.

My reception still isn't perfect, but you can listen to it. I moved the ac power code to the far side and gain some improvement as well.

Unit does not pick up satellites but recognizes when antenna is open

I have a unit like that. The antenna appears to be dead. It just searches forever and never finds anything. I use an external antenna that I got from eBay (brand is Gilsson) and it works fine. You just plug it in the external jack (after removing the little rubber plug) and it works even better than the built-in antenna.

Signal lost...system doesn't kick in for about 10 minutes

possibly a low or failing battery, You might want to also add an external antenna. Might i suggest the 50Db Skymaster from Marbella Australia, so change battery and check and invest in the antenna from marbella aust

Reception

I'm not sure that would help at all. An external antenna is useful if you are inside a vehicle to get around the signal being blocked if your gps is inside but from the sounds of your description, you are being blocked by the buildings. What you need is line of sight to the satellites so the gps can triangulate your location. The more satellites it can see, the better. If it cannot locate at least 3, it will not work.

No GPS signal?

I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory settings.
