Not sure if anyone can help. My 40" inch Samsung LCD TV has a distorted picture when turning it on for about 10 mins and then the picture sorts itself out. The left hand side of the screen is disorted , colours are dull and movement has a shadow. Is it worth fixing it?
SOURCE: sharp lc26sh20u 26"flat panel has vertical lines on left side,What coulb be problem?
This line would either indicate a horizontal problem cropping up or a power supply problem
I would suggest getting a service tech to look at it to determine where
your problem is coming from but most likely it will be the power
supply /deflection board that is the problem but I can't know for sure, it will have to be checked.
A lot of sets have had damages after a long hot summer a/c
flipping off and on and current demand being peeked from the
utilities storms or quick power loss off and on can cause problems
like this to occur
Please let me know if you have any other questions, thanks

Howdy,
It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM852 & CM853; 2200ufd 25volts.
Thanks for using FIXYA, big IRISH.

SOURCE: akai flat screen lcd tv.. turns itself off after about 10 min
had a very similar situation with my Phillips 42 in. LCD TV.
Here was my Problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened it up( Warranty
was Expired) and found several faulty capacitors on the PSB. Its
pretty common. Major Electronic companies were sold faulty capacitors
that fail in 2-5 years instead of 10-20 due to a lack of
preservatives. It wouldn't surprise me if you have the same problem.
TV will work fine for a few years and then just fail completely or
slowly deteriorate.
Here are the solutions
1. Have it Repaired
2. Check for faulty caps and if you find some(budged or leaking) you know you have located a problem
Remove the board and replace the whole thing.
3. If you have some soldering skills you can replace the faulty caps.
Caps are very inexpensive, under a dollar in most cases. I replaced 4 for about $5.00
Hope this Helps.
Good Luck

Thanks for the responses. Would my two year old son switching the TV on and off at the wall cause this problem?
Thanks for all your help. I took the TV back to the shop I bought it from and even after 4 years Samsung have offered to replace it. Great customer service from Samsung and would really rate them. Thanks again for your help.
