Speen Queen washer won't start

My coin op washer won't start. I checked coin slide and manually depressed start button. But it would not start and the "in use" light would not turn on. I did check that power was on and inside the control box a red LED light is flashing, indicating power is on. What do you think is causing the machine not to start and how can I fix it?

SOURCE: Speed Queen Top Loader heavy duty washer

First unplug the machine, now take off the front panel, two screws at the bottom of the front panel, front panel swings up and off.

check to make sure the six springs are still in place.

Under the tub is bearing housing between the tub and base usually white in color, under this is a plastic ring, does it seem to float easily when you move the tub. it could be broken. Also look around for loose or missing screws.

If all seems fine, make sure you have all four rubber feet on, level machine, in the front first side to side, then pull machine toward you to bring rear legs off floor, these are self leveling, have someone assist and make sure they are not stuck, use a pliers and break loose if they are. So with the machine on its front feet and the back feet off the ground set the machine down on all four feet check level front to back adjust as needed on the front legs. You should reset rear legs as you adjust the front. now with machine level tight the nut between the front legs and the base locking them.

This should help, if machine still shakes it could be the balance ring, has lost if solution its filled with a salt water solution, the hard part is you need to find it under the tub cover. we will go into the detail if we need to. ask more questions later

SOURCE: Draining water from inside through center.

The tub seal kit is $85 USD, You will also need a drive bell kit$23 USD, you should replace the upper bearing $?, for a complete rebuilt I would also replace the brake pads all three, and the belt, maybe the pump if it doesnt come off easily. Plus what you break taking it apart, so we are looking @ least $150.

Yes you can do it yourself, you dont need the tub wrench if you can borrow a deep socket, its the drive bell seal tool you really need.

Please let me know if you have additional questions. the serial number will tell you the age first two digits are year next two are month, starts with and R, built in Ripon WI.

Have you checked the receptacle? Plug a light or something into the receptacle to see if it works.

SOURCE: The soap dispenser in my

This is usually caused by a low water pressure problem.Water will take the path of least resistance and in this case the soapdispenser suffers. A couple of things to look for are.

  1. Check the water line screens and water valve screens. If these are plugged with debris it will lower your water pressure.
To check this remove the hot andcold fill hoses on the rear of the machine. Look inside of the water valve forand debris there is a screen on the valve to catch this. The machine also camewith inline water screens. Check to see if theses were installed and if theyare plugged and installed properly. These will be inside the fill hoseat either the machine end or the spigot end it depends on who installed them. The proper orientation of this screen is that the pointed end should be facingthe incoming water. 2. Check to see if you have goodwater pressure at the machine hose connections. This is easily done with awater pressure gauge. I purchased one at Home Depot for around $10.00. This ismuch less than a service call. Put the gauge on the water line and turn on thevalve. Then turn on any faucets or appliances that feed from the same line andsee what the pressure is. The installation manual that came with your machinewill have the water pressure spec on it.

This is a door lock error. The control is not seeing that the door was locked.
Try pushing the door closed where the door strike is. If this does not work you may nee to adjust the door strike.

I am having the exact same problem with this exact same machine I bought 2 weeks ago, from the 1st load on. I've watched the mechanism and see that it's not rotating. Repair guy out once, thinking my tenants aren't pushing the coin slide in hard or fast enough. Have to wait another week for repair guy to come out. Obviously there's an apparent defect in the Plastic Mechanism.

Oh your bringing me back to the early days of my appliance repair career when i only serviced coin operated washers and dryers. Not in the coin box but the cover on top where you would get access to the timer is a bolt that holds the coin slide to the coin box asm. remove that bolt(if i remeber from 25 years ago its a 5/16th inch hex head and brass colored) and the coin slide will come out and then gotta kinda genlty presuade it in with a hammer so the coin will drop through or pull on the handle ya would push, to free it up and remove stuck coin

Washing machine wont come on but i check the plugs and the push button are okey . you know any other parts that needs to be replace ? thank you.

If this is a kenmore front loader (boxy type made by frigidaire), the button must be
depressed for several seconds. The second problem with this model is the "coin
mechanism" cam must be in the correct position to operate the machine. If someone
puts in coins two times without starting, it can get out of sequence with the timer.
If you have a key, open coin box and move the metal arm back until the cam advances
to just before the big dip. (with the unit unplugged). The next cycle will allow the
arm to drop and engage the microswitches. If you don't have a key put coins in the
slide mechanism as though you were going to start the machine and
depress button until machine starts, this will reset the cam to the correct position.
Hard to explain but if you look at the coin mechanism, it will become obvious.
If you need a new mechanism it is called the "start mechanism" for front loaders.
Hope this helps.

  1. purchase a coin insert and blank the slot that coins fit in, then the slide will slid in without coins, just acting like a button, if you examine the slide you wil notice that there are plastic inserts in unused coin slots, any maytag commercial dealer has them.
  2. replace coin slide with 'free operation' converter, which is just a button plate that pushes the striker on the timer switch
  3. take top cover off and just push the striker on the timer, (this is NOT) a recommended option, 220v is enough to spoil you whole day)
